Tutor position and stuff

Postby Sheenar » Mon Jul 21, 2008 1:23 pm

Hey guys! As you have heard, I have a new job at the Writing Center at my university. I'm going to apply for a writing tutor position here and, since I deleted all of my old papers, am needing to write one for the director to look over (to demonstrate that I know how to write properly).
Please pray for me in this. I really want this position so I can help students. I also have a short time to write said paper --it has to be 4-5 pages (which is not bad at all), but the problem I am having is coming up with a thesis statement. I want to write about service dogs and their benefits to persons with disabilities, but am not sure how to word a thesis. I'm just having a brain fog, basically.

Also, please pray for me in general. I am going through a battle with some things right now and am also having bad senioritis...just 10 more months until graduation --pray that I finish strong and that my time left is not wasted or focused on myself, but on ministry and leaving an impact here.

Oh, and I have testing in the morning (the first of 3 sessions) for DARS (formerly the Texas Rehab Commission) to determine my eligibility for assistance with college costs/finding a post-college job. I'm testing at the campus Psych Center and it's basically an evaluation --aptitude, etc.--to see if my diagnoses are confirmed by the tests and to see how they would affect(or is it effect?) my job performance. I'm kinda nervous...

Thank you. Pebbles says hi to everyone! *is very soundly asleep under my desk at work*

Hmmm...still blanking on a thesis statement for my paper. Dang, I wish I could just switch my brain on sometimes --maybe after a good night's sleep I'll be able to get the hamster to start running in the wheel.

Thank you for your support, Animewarrior.

Sheenar,

I don't envy you. But sometimes reading or researching helps unblock that writer's block.

Here's a article on how to write a Thesis Statement. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but perhaps this might help a little bit. Good Luck!

You're in my prayers.

Oh, I know how to write a thesis--I just wasn't sure what mine was going to be. But now I have one! :D

All that's left is to write the paper and turn it in to the Director ASAP.

I was able to observe my first tutor session today --I then filled out a paper on what I observed and what I learned. It was pretty cool.

Man, I love this job more and more each day. The people there are just so awesome and fun. I already knew several of them--so it's kind of like working alongside old friends. :)

On an unrelated note, I made an 87 on my last ASL exam!! :jump:
