Requesting Prayer for a Born-Again Otaku Chasing Her Dream!

Postby Chrysolite » Fri Jul 11, 2008 3:03 am

I'd like to ask my fellow anime-loving Christians to pray for my little sister, who is going to Japan for a month to help out at a Christian school there. She has had a huge heart for Japan and its art, culture, and people ever since she discovered anime more than 5 years ago. Since then she has worked very hard teaching herself Japanese (writing forms included), fanatically absorbing info about Japan, drawing manga-style to the proficiency level of beginning her own series, and believing in God to one day get her there. Recently her prayers were answered when she met some missionaries moving to Japan who acted as middlemen to organize a five-week trip during which she'd help out with the camp, all the while being in Japan! That was enough for her. She even paid for her well-over-1000$ ticket out of pocket! So I'm asking you fellow believers who understand how she feels (at least a little) to pray for her safety, productivity, and strong faith during her trip as I'm sure the devil will do everything he can to kill it for her. And thanks be to God for providing her with this incredible opportunity!

God Bless!

Do not be overrighteous, neither be overwise—
why destroy yourself?

Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool—
why die before your time?

It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other.
The man who fears God will avoid all extremes.

Ah, that's very cool mate.
I've done a mission trip to Japan. It's a materially rich society, but spiritually poor one.
I'll absolutely play for your friend.

Hey, I just came back from there for a short term mission trip Is there any way we can connect and have some personal interaction? I would love to share my experiences (and passion). I can't say that I can speak Japanese as well but maybe, I can connect her to other missionaries there and I am more than interested to know how it goes for her there. =)

I think that all CAA members who have been/is planning to go for mission trips to Japan should get together and form some network.

Seriously, I welcome your sister and W4Jesus to drop me an email at kcome@DELETETHIS.hotmail.com

Thanks for the encouragement! It's greatly appreciated!

Though I should mention that she's not really planning on being a quote/unquote "missionary". She has a heart for the people for sure and wants to shine for Jesus absolutely, but being a hardcore missionary just isn't what she's called to do. She wants to live there, work there, and shine for the Lord in a more casual, intimate way. Nothing wrong with that. As for connecting for chat and whatnot, I'd have to ask her. We've been raised to be pretty leery of strangers... no offense. Plus she's gonna be really busy during the time she's there, and the schedule for when she comes home looks pretty hectic too, but I think she'd like to talk to a fellow Christian anime fan who's been to Japan. I have no idea if or when I'll be able to get back to you on that, though, as I'm not even completely sure how my own contact with her is gonna work just yet. But thanks regardless! I'll post again soon! :)

I pray for and open heaven over your sister and the ministry with which she's involved and that the hearts of the people will be softened toward the message of God they're bringing. Let there be traveling mercys and breakdowns of strongholds of the enemy in the region. May the Lord's will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

I'm also looking at living/working in Japan for 1-6 months after I graduate college this winter, so I can totally understand her passion and her dream. I'll definitely be praying for her!

Looking at 2 years here, if that is what God wants for me. I'll be praying for ya sis, Chrys.
Hiyakawa Sayaka (my character from my writing) wrote:God has given me a gift, that I really don't know what to do with. I guess, all I can do is put it in his hands, keep my hands inside the car, and expect to end up destroying parts of Tokyo with my perfectly good guitar.
