IMO
Funimation has gotten really great about dubbing...they used to be horrible but In the past few years I think they are better than ADV... (considering they use a few of the same actors...)

So, I pre-ordered this sometime last month, and I got an e-mail saying that they shipped it yesterday. I'm so excited!! with four day shipping it should arrive Saturday, but sometimes things arrive earlier then expected, so I'm hoping to get it Friday if not tomorrow. Because if it comes Saturday, I won't be able to get it until Monday, because I had it shipped to me at school and I'm going home this weekend. I'm really hoping it comes Friday, but either way I am so stoked! I can't wait, and I'm really eager to hear the english voice cast. I'm nervous also, but if I don't like them I'll have the japanese to listen to also. So...

Yay! I get my box set in a few days! Hooray! The only thing that dampens my spirits is its only part one and not the complete series, but I'm happy anyway! That's such a small downfall that I hardly even notice, and once I have the box set itself in my hands, I won't even think of it any more. Woo Hoo

Tamaki is many things-- suave, sexy, charming, lovely, handsome, caring, over-the-top, ridiculous, silly, simple-minded, impulsive, and downright stupid-- but one thing he is not is fabulously flamingly camp. orz

Thought I should tell you, that Funi has posted the first TWO dubbed episodes on their site... I've watched these episodes in Japanese before, and I gotta say that watching it in English is EVEN BETTER. I mean sure it's hilarious in Japanese but they did a GREAT job finding the cast to play this Vic as Tamaki is AMAZING.

Yeah I watched these episodes a couple weeks back and at first I had to get used to the new dub voices since I watched the whole series with subs before, but man, it's still just as funny and I love it! I love the Tamaki "freak out" moments! Vic did a good job. I'm just glad the humor is still there and the dub didn't completely ruin the show! Only 4 days 'till the DVDs are out!

Mmy first impressions of the English dub, let me show you them.

Haruhi Fujioka - Wonderful, actually. Just the right droll feminine voice with a bit of boyishness that suits Haruhi.
Tamaki Suou - I have no idea why so many people are convinced Vic ruined/will ruin this role. He's spot on in these first two episodes.
Kaoru Hitachiin and Hikaru Hitachiin - Good together, little hazy apart.
Kyoya Ohtori - Sounds kinda too old to be a high school student, but then that's how Kyoya kinda is. Grew on me after a couple stilted lines.
Mitsukuni "Honey" Haninozuka - Basically perfect.
Takashi Morinozuka - Tentative. Guy's the silent type, and he sometimes goes entire episodes without a single line of spoken dialogue.
OP - Grated on me, but it'll grow on me. Maybe.
ED - There is no ED. We do not speak of it.

And I am absolutely dreading hearing Renge. I disliked her in the original Japanese, I don't think the English will do much to fix this.

I got it Friday, and watched the first few episodes (well, parts of two and three, and the first and fourth episodes all the way through.... or something like that ^^; )

I agree about Hikaru and Kaoru. They sound ok when they're speaking in unison, but apart, its difficult to 'accept'. Hikaru's voice could maybe grow one me (I personally think he sounds better at some points then at others) but Kaoru's voice I didn't care for... its not bad though o.o.

And Kyoya's voice does sound a little old for him, but it works regardless XD Those are just my first impression thoughts on it. I might say more as I finish watching the first 13 episodes dubbed. But I'm just happy I own it!
