Favorite Disney Cartoon Song

Postby rocklobster » Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:28 pm

When I was little, one of the things I liked best about Disney cartoons was the music. So I was wondering which songs from Disney cartoons are your favorites. (Note: for the purpose of this thread, songs that were not made for the movie don't count. So stuff like Fantasia can't apply here. Neither can any of the Elvis songs that frequently appear in Lilo and Stitch movies)
Here are some of mine:
"Candle on the Water" (Pete's Dragon--a true little-known gem!)
"Supercalifredgalisticexpialidocous (or however it's spelled)" (Mary Poppins )(technically, it's live action/cartoon. STILL COUNTS!)
"Hakuna Matata" (The Lion King)
"When You Wish Upon a Star" (Pinocchio)
"You'll Be In My Heart" (Tarzan)
"Baby Mine" (Dumbo)
"A Whole New World" (Aladdin)
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."
--Jeremiah 1:5

I like A Dream is a Wish your heart makes for Cinderella, and the colours of the wind for Pochohantas....of course you have A whole New World and One step ahead both for Aladdin and Beauty and The beast and Be My Guest for Beauty and the Beast.

"Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid

"A Friend Like Me" and "Arabian Nights" from Aladdin

"I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" from The Lion King

"The Best of Friends" from The Fox and the Hound

"Belle" , "Be Our Guest" and "Gaston" from Beauty and the Beast

and probably many others ... I love classic Disney movies. The songs are just so catchy! :)
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

"Hellfire", from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Heck, most of the songs from Hunchback. But I guess this one sticks out because I would have paid to see the expressions on all of the parents' faces in theaters as that song played.

Yeah! Prince Philip FTW!!!!

Oh, I also like the song from "Beauty and the Beast" when Gaston and all the guys are singing in the hunting lodge/bar. lol...it gets so stuck in my head!

"Noooo....onnnnne...is as slick as Gaston, is as quick as Gaston, no one's neck is as incredibly thick as Gaston..."

The mob song is awesome too! Same with Poor Unfortunate Souls.

I love how in every Disney movie, every character can sing well. lol

"Be Prepared" from "The Lion King"
"Chim Chimeree" from "Mary Poppins"
"Zip-a-dee-doo-dah" from "Song of the South"
"Gaston" from "Beauty and the Beast"
"Pink Elephants on Parade" from "Dumbo" (which, due to the implications of intoxication, I was forbidden to see as a child)
"Der Fuehrer's Face" from "Donald Duck in Nutziland" (a popular Spike Jones number, I believe it was originally written for this Disney short)
"To be a good listener, you must acquire a musical culture...you must be familiar with the history and development of music, you must listen...to receive music you have to open your ears and wait for the music, you must believe that it is something you need ...to listen is an effort, and just to hear has no merit. A duck hears also." - Igor Stravinsky

Wow, thanks for reminding me about Candle on the Water! I used to really like that song, but I haven't heard it in ages. I found it on Youtube and listening to it again is giving me chills.

I also like:

Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins
When You Wish Upon a Star from Pinocchio
Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid

I have always liked "Under the Sea" and I've recently seen an AMV set to Aladdin's "One Jump Ahead" which is making me want to watch Aladdin again, so that would probably be my current favourite.
