HB - descriped as Flyleaf meets Within Temptation

Postby Gypsy » Thu Jul 03, 2008 8:52 am

I work in a Christian cafe that plays music from open to close and quite honestly, I want to drive my foot through the cd player every time I hear Jeremy Camp or Third Day. I had pretty much stopped listening to any mainstream Christian bands because I simply couldn't take it anymore. Nothing against those particular artists, but after something has been stuffed down your throat for days on end, you learn to hate it.

ANYWAY! This band pretty much drop kicked me when Zilch brought it up on iTunes:

http://www.hbmusic.net/

me: " ... O_O"
zilch: "sounds kinda like Within Temptation, so I thought you'd like it"
me: "CLICK BUY IT NOW!!!"
zilch: "well, not all the songs sound just like that ..."
me: *tripping over stuff to get to the laptop* "NEVERMIND, MOVE!! *pretty sure I threw him out the window* I'M BUYING THIS!!"

Or it went something like that.

I totally get the malaise toward mainstream Christian music. That's cool, though.

AND HI, GYPSY, YOU'RE NOT DEAD, THAT'S GOOD.

HB, I found them not too long ago via a link someone posted on Firestream.net. I loved what little I heard.

Its Finnish.. they're from Finland if I remember correctly...

I just discovered this band a while back looking for Christian Power and symphonic metal. I do like the music but the lyrics... they aren't very talented in the writing department IMO. Which tends to be the problem I find looking for Christian power and symphonic metal... its always so generic Christian lyrics

I know how you feel Scarecrow. Only really good power metaly Christian music I've found thus far is Seventh Avenue ((kinda)) and Essence of Sorrow. Let me know if you find anything good.

I discovered this band a little while back by random, but yeah, they sound a lot like Within Temptation, whom I really enjoying listening to. So I was bound to like them... I really wish we had a lot more bands with "Christian lyrics" that sound like that.

I absolutely love the sound. Unfortunately, the lyrics have all the subtelty of a sledgehammer. This band would be super amazing if they sang in Finnish or changed their lyrics to avoid such blatant cliches. This is a band to keep an eye on, thanks for mentioning it!
