A Newbie Here

Postby Yuen Fei Lung » Thu Jun 19, 2008 1:43 pm

Hey everyone!

It's a pleasure to meet you all. I was actually thinking of starting a Christian Anime board and so I ran a search on Google and found this cool place. It really is an honour to be here and I look forward to talking with anime fans who are also Christians.

A bit about myself: I'm a 25 year old guy who has been into anime since the age of about 13. I was saved at a very young age--probably around eight years old. I'm really a pretty easy-going guy. I don't like a like a lot of drama. I am a quite person but I also enjoy intelligent conversation particularly about news, politics religion, movies and music. I think most people would probably describe me as a "nice guy" with very strong beliefs.

I'm really passionate about my hobbies which include video games, pro wrestling, mixed martial arts, movies, anime and music. I run a weekly podcast called Rare Drop Radio (gotta plug it) that focuses on conversation mostly on video games but we often stray and talk about the above hobbies mentioned.

I would consider myself a conservative with a bit of an edge. For example, I don't feel the government should control what a person watches in their own homes--I feel that should be a persons individual responsibility. That being said, I think it would be very interesting to chat with other Christian anime fans here and see their point of view on todays issues. The anime websites I normally go to are very liberal and they don't seem to care much for Christians so I'm hoping to have perhaps found a home here where I can continue to grow spiritually and make some really good friends.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here! Talk to you soon!

It's nice to have you here. ;) Hey, if you want to at least READ a discussion that relates to the issue you mentioned in your one paragraph, read this thread. http://christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=47972&highlight=disappointed+nausicaa It touches on it, and it went quite a few places. You'll at least get some idea of how I feel about certain things.

Again, nice to have you here.

This is almost exactly how I found CAA, except I was looking to start something with anime reviews.

I came here attracted by the reviews, as an Anime/Manga fan parent who needed some help researching the titles I brought home first before my kids saw them. This is a good place full of good people. Come on in and make yourself at home.

Whow everyone, thank you very much for the incredibly warm welcome. ^_^ It really is a pleasure to be here. I'd love to get to know you all better and make some good friends. Feel free to PM me anytime or just hit me up here on the boards.

Roy: I heard you're into Escaflowne in the chatroom?

Anime Warrior: No doubt I'll give both podcasts a listen. I'm huge into video games and anime so I'm sure I'll enjoy them.

I'm curious, has CAA ever thought of doing video or audio reviews of anime or is it just strictly written?

It hasn't really come up. I suspect there are other sites out there that would cover this, and the reviews are mostly setup to return results (e.g., from google.)

It's a very interesting idea, though. :thumb:

I really enjoyed the CAA Gamercast. Good stuff, indeed! I'll post about it in its proper section though.

I've done both anime and video game video reviews. It's a rather long but rewarding process. I'm just thinking that Christian-based anime and video game video reviews might help to spread the word that this site is out there. My video editing skills still leave a lot to be desired though.

Roy: Escaflowne is my favorite anime (the television series). To me, it was anime at its best. I enjoy lots of anime but to me, even after all these years, nothing beats Escaflowne.

Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone! You guys rock!

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."

*bows back to Kunoichi-sama* Hey awesome! =) Always good to meet another MMA fan. Did you happen to watch the Ultimate Fighter finale on Spike tv last week? I thought it was a good show and I was pleased with the outcome. I'm excited to see the fight between Forest Griffin and Rampage Jackson though I doubt I'll get to order the pay-per-view since things are rather tight money-wise for me at the moment.
