The Unofficial CAA Classic Gaming Thread

Postby CAAOutkast » Fri Jun 13, 2008 7:48 am

Welcome to the Unofficial CAA classic gaming thread, where we at CAA talk about classic gaming. I'm surpised that a thread like this never existed until now. Y'know,I believe that deep down most of you are Classic gaming fans(like me).

Anyway,in this thread we'll talk about games from Atari 2600 to Playstation 1.
We can even talk about game systems like 3DO and CDi.

I have an NES and still play Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. I really wish I had Kirby's Adventure and Trog for the NES, though --those are awesome games.

I also have a Sega Genesis at my mom's house --I have Toy Story, The Lion King, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Pac-Attack (a fun cross between Pacman and Tetris), and Sonic Spinball.

So I'm a big fan of classic games. My view is that I'll keep playing on my old systems until they break --and only then consider buying a new one. I also like the old systems better in some ways (though I do like the Gamecube.) I think the Super Nintendo and N64 were my favorites (Super Mario World and the original Super Smash Brothers were my favorites).
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

"Since the creation of the Internet, the Earth's rotation has been fueled, primarily, by the collective spinning of English teachers in their graves."

I've should've mentioned this earlier, but the main purpous of this thread is to talk about Classic Gaming without bashing the newer systems. Just thought I'd let you people know.

Anyway,I'm a huge fan of the Original Mega Man Series,as well as the Sonic,Mario, and Final Fantasy Series. I also love the Mega Man X series.

Street Fighter is also a favorite of mine. Street Fighter Alpha 3 is my favorite game in the entire SF series.

So tell me,what are some of your favorite classic games,CAA?

!. I think she was saying that she just like older systems more than the newer ones. She was not really bashing the newer systems, just saying her opinion. :)

2. I love the Mega Man X series espcially X4 with its music and storyline. MegaMan Legends 2 has to be one of my favorite PS1 games and my favorite Megaman game.

For Square games, I really love Braver Fencer Musashi. A legend of Japan at the age of 9 saving a kingdom from the Thristquencher Empire.

I love DKC2 and Super Mario World for the SNES. :thumb:

I played a few "classic" games in my time... Old school Atari (Mario Bros, Centipede, Galaga, Pong, etc...) and am now getting back into everything I missed from the NES days... My fiance downloaded a ton of classic emulators to my pc, and I have have a lot of fun (and frustration!) playing classic Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy, Dragon "Warrior" (nee Quest), and the first two Metal Gear games released in Japan on the MSX... old school gaming at its FINEST!!! ^_^

I love classic adventure games with every little bit of my heart. Sam and Max Hit the Road, Day of the Tentacle, the Monkey Island and Discworld games...I'm also trying to get past a few classic Sierra games, like King's/Space Quest. Unfortunately, I really, truly, suck at them.

If these don't count...uh, I like Earthworm Jim and Sonic.

I'm also a Street Fighter fanboy... I grew up with Street Fighter II and I think the Alpha series really took all the things that made the SFII series great and made them even better. I also love Mario, Super Mario World, Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, CastleVania: Symphony of the Night and Final Fight just to name a few. We still have our old Super NES and Sega Genesis here and it still works along with the original controls. I'm not sure what happened to our NES though.

The SNES is my favorite system. So many wonderful RPGs! ^^

I still play my NES and SNES, especially for the original LoZ and Spiritual Warfare.
