Everyone has those times when a game gets so boring/repetitive/bad that you just HAVE to get rid of it somehow, so post what game you've recently gotten rid of, how you did it, and if you got anything in return for it.

Just traded in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, Pokemon Ranger, and Jak II to my GameStop today, and picked up Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection.

I actually fairly frequently sell off games I'm done with, though I haven't done so recently. I think the last one I got rid of was Lego Star Wars

This thread says "Somehow ended up with one less game" and despite your opening post stating that this is about bad/boring games we got rid of, I'm going to go in the spirit of the title and state games I have lost.

1. Rogue Squadron - Loaned it to a friend in nuke school, who got kicked out, and I didn't see him before he left. Gone.

2. Dead or Alive 3 - Left it in the Distro shop on the ship, mysteriously vanished.

3. Capcom vs. SNK 2 - Loaned it to a friend on the ship, who left it in his PS2, the PS2 was stolen.

Games I have obtained in this way?

1. Final Fantasy Tactics - Borrowed it from a friend in nuke school, who got kicked out, and I didn't see him before he left. GET.

The last game I got rid of was Drakengard. The people who made it had no morals! None!

Eh, I traded in Juiced 2, Gun and Turning Point for the 360 not long ago... went towards the purchase of Rock Band and Capcom Fighting Evolution.

I've traded in several games over time, but most notably, I remember trading in Star Ocean 3 and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. I really disliked both of those games. XD

;_; Tales of Symphonia... My favorite game of all time.

This was like, 2 years ago when my mom was really sensitive about language in video games. She got upset over Lloyd's bad mouth, and that some guards said the d-word whenever you killed them. She let me beat it first, and then she made me trade it in. I got Metroid Prime 2 out of it, but...

Aw, man I miss that game. T_T

We're suspecting it ended up in a different box after my husband moved back over here from Maine. We're hoping to find it...eventually. I only got to like...level two on it. *sigh*

I have a thing about keeping all games I buy...even if I rarely play them, because some year later I end up with a desire to play it, and viola, I have the game...even if it's covered in dust...I still have it. :)

My husband and I just bought two nes (?)(my first system was a Pikachu n64 that I bought on sale at toys r us for my 13-14th b day for like $8 plus tax, so anything prior I have no knowledge of) systems with a ton of games and controllers (including a gun) for like $5 at a garage sale. Havn't been able to test em out yet, but there were like 4 copies of duck hunt/mario brothers in the box. o_o;;

I got a game that was like the third in a series that I cannot honestly remember the name of now. You found save items and there were only like one or two per four hours of game play. It was pretty awful. There was a mini-game that involved building an ant colony that was pretty fun, but that's all I remember about the game. It was so "everything already done" that I gave it the microwave AND the frisbie treatment.

Perfect Dark had an awesome multiplayer mode... I spent many hours playing that with one of my good buddies. He went to college way across the country... but I still kept the game for memories, and for if he comes home over summer... we get in the mood to play all the oldies sometimes. The single player was pretty good too from what I remember... I think you could play co-op with someone, as that always makes games better. I'm not big on sitting by myself and playing too long. :p Hopefully you find it!

I keep all the games I like... if it really stinks, then I trade it... I don't like to get rid of games either... or systems for that matter. I always go back and play them at some point.

Haha Mario Bros and Duck Hunt... used to play that all the time when I was little. My grandma had a NES at her house... it was for family to play on the nights we had dinner there, so it was pretty fun. I remember my cousin used to hold the gun right up to the screen, and have his face 2 inches from the tv. I dunno how he didn't go blind.

Dirge of Cerberus, hands down hated the game with a passion. I only got I think 20 dollars when I traded it in. I'm just happy I got that much back for the forty I paid for it.

Juiced 2 I gave to a friend. That game was beyond awful.

Dino Crisis was a good game but I knew I'd never play it again so I traded it in for Primal instead which I LOVE!

Other than that there really hasn't been other games I've traded in or gave away. I try to research all the games I buy or borrow them from my friends before spending the $$ for it.

I do this all the time and for some reason it only seems to happen to really good games. I've traded Metroid Prime, Legend of Zelda Windwaker, Final Fantasy X among others. Later I would be like, "Hey, where did that one game go? I wanted to play it again.... Oh yeah I traded it."

That happened mostly before I had a job and it was the only way to get money for other games, I didn't get an allowance from my parents. Now I do trade anything unless I absolutely hated it, like Dawn of Mana. Man that game stank. :/

As a rule I try to hold on to every game I purchase, no matter what the quality. Then again, I try not to buy bad games to begin with, so it is usually not a problem.

However, I lent two games to a friend who subsequently moved away. I never saw those games again; it hurt. They were The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Earthbound, both for the snes. Man, it was horrible. Those games rocked! Now, if Nintendo would just release Earthbound for the Virtual Console......

I traded in Splinter Cell Double Agent and a couple other games and DVDs to knock the price down on Condemned 2.
Interesting thought here: Devil May Cry was the first PS2 game I ever bought (more than 7 years ago now) and I still own it. I haven't even thought of trading it in.

Haha... yep I agree. I bought the game without reading anything about it... just like... "hey, this looks fun!" I smacked myself later that evening, when I played the game. I rarely get something... without knowing at least a little about it. It has to be the worst Need for Speed knockoff... even if they were not intending for it to be, it feels like a broken version of Need for Speed Underground or something. I also was annoyed by all the half naked models everywhere and the stupid room that has your car in it before a race, it has girls dancing all around. Argh. Duuumb. I heard that the company who made the game has since shut down though... so yeah. :P

Last week, I traded in Army of Two for C&C 3: Kane's Wrath. Kane's Wrath is a bit of a disappointment as far as expansion packs go, but at least it comes with keys for the Red Alert 3 beta. Plus, Command and Conquer on a bad day is still better than Army of Two.

Sounds like the Breath of Fire 3 on the Playstation. Yeah, it wasn't very stellar. I enjoyed the first two games on the SNES though. Which is good, they'd make terrible frisbees. But, I wonder about the microwave...

Edit: As expected, the microwave is not the best means of game cartridge recycling:

Oh yeah! I completely forgot about the parade of half-naked women, bleck, that was another reason to give it away as well. It's probably because my mind is still blocking the hideousness that was Juiced 2 and yes, it was a really bad rip-off of Need For Speed Underground, really BAD!

Thank God! Though the company Iron Lore Entertainment said it wasn't due to poor sales but piracy of people ripping there games off the net. I mean come on, how lame is that? NO ONE in their right mind would want a rip off of Juiced 2 nor the real thing!

My brother bought this one Robin Hood game (forget what it was actually called) but it was a pretty weak battleground type of game. Gotta rob from Prince John and all. Anyway he bought it new for 17 dollars, hated it so much he decided to trade it in to blockbuster and got 20 dollars for it =D Nice trade.

The only game that I personally traded away was Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure. Hands down the worst game I ever played. I only got around 5 dollars for it but that was more than it was worth IMO so I was happy.

Seriously, they said that? Oh my goodness. I would have given the game away to get rid of it... it did bring in a little bit of cash for Rock Band, but it was leaving my game collection no matter what I had to do with it.

I'm waiting for the new Midnight Club to come out now... looks pretty good. I traded in my Gamecube a while back to put money down on some new games... there was really no need to have it, since the Wii plays all the GC games.

Yeah, Iron Lore Entertainment has a record with the whole "Piracy" statement though. It seems to be what they blame their horrible failures in game-making/launching on. What's strange is they were the developers of Titan's Quest and which seemed to fair well with gamers.

That was a smart idea putting the money towards Rock Band. I really want to buy that game! It looks like a lot of fun.

Ooo! There's a new Midnight club? That's the first I've heard of it! It shall be another game I must add to my incredibly long list of games to purchase once I have the funds! :D I don't think I could ever give away/trade in my Gamecube even though I own a Wii. I love my little lunchbox too much, so many fond memories! ^__^

Ah, well it's sad to always have an excuse like that... not saying game piracy doesn't hurt sales, but other companies, even small ones... they seem to do okay. I know of some that have shut down lately, but I don't see piracy being the main reason for it. It's also something with all these companies buying each other and stuff... lots of interesting things going on.

Rock Band is awesomeness. I won't ever be trading that in... it's so much better than Guitar Hero(even though I am keeping GH too). It's a blast though. I use the GH guitar with Rock Band though... the one in the bundle kind of sucks. That's the only complaint I have with Rock Band. I didn't like their Guitar too much... but thankfully the GH guitars are compatible with it on the 360. I heard the PS3 has problems with that though, so it may be 360 only, that you can do that.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles is set to come out on May 28th... granted that they don't push it back or something. Here is info on it - [url]http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving/midnightclublosangeles/index.html?tag=tabs]

Haha, yeah, it was hard to let the lunchbox go :p but I kept the controllers and memory cards at least, so I can use those on the Wii :) I wish the 360 and PS3 had backwards compatibility like the Wii does... instead, the 360 only plays a handful of the good Xbox games... and the 80gb PS3 has issues with running some PS2 games. Argh!!

Anyways... traded in Mister Mosquito earlier... man, that game was odd.
