Chip's challenge is an evil game. You can't fight it, you can't win.

Also, bats.

You're only saying that because it's not Fish and Chips' Challenge. Jealous at all? =P

No.

Chip's Challenge was evil back in 1989 too.

It was also evil back when I was playing it. There were all kinds of levels I had skipped with the hidden "Ignore Passwords" feature, which I had discovered completely on accident. "Jumping Swarm" and "Spirals" are two I can think of. I freaking hate the walkers. >.> I beat the last level, "Special," all by myself, though. I was proud. =D

Anyways, I don't have the original Chip's Challenge or its levels on my computer anymore. :(

Hey, I remember sucking at Chip's Challenge when I was a kid!

Honestly, it was the bats that always got me.

Well, since multiple people seem to remember Chip's Challenge, let me describe Tile World, and why it's so awesome. Tile World is a program that emulates the game engine Chip's Challenge. While the original 149 levels are not included with the program (due to copyright reason), there are a number of level sets created by Chip's Challenge fans that can be downloaded on the internet and played. Tile World comes with a set of 149 levels known as "Chip's Challenge Level Pack 2", as well as a set of 9 training levels. So. . . yeah. XD

We were into this game too...until we realized one of the last few levels is called "Hidden Pentagram" and says something about avoiding the "spell" by staying out of the center of the pentagram in the level.

We promptly deleted the game after finding this out.

And Batty is cool. :P XD

Hey! One of the much earlier levels in the game, "Grail", has the chips arranged in a couple of cross formations! So that cancels it out, right? ;)

Hey, I managed to win!

..on the second or third time around of having interest/determination in the game...

This was one of the first computer games I played for extended periods as a kid. And we accidentally came across the skip level feature, and didn't realise the significance of it, then closed the program and later wondered why we couldn't skip levels, or how to get the level skipping feature back! It took a while for us to get it again, then we took down the passwords for all the levels and tried to make our way through...

I can probably still do the level 9 ice skating key combination without even thinking...

Hm...I dunno...I'd just prefer to have the cross formations, and not the other one in the game at all.

While I never owned the game myself I can remember logging many of my precious childhood hours into that game while at my aunt's house. That game was addicting; I might have to look at this Tile World.

I'm not complaining about that...it's just that the pentagram is clearly mentioned, and it's a satanic symbol. Now, you might say that the Nazis were pretty evil, but, ah...nevermind. I'm guessing that for the Zelda games, the shape wasn't intentionally meant to be like a swastika...it just happened to look like it.

And I'm not saying that the creators of the game are trying to make everyone evil. I'm just saying that I don't want a game in my house that has that evil symbol in it. That's all. The people who made the game probably didn't know any better and thought it looked "good" enough to put in the game. *shrugs* But anyways...

XD not quite what I meant (I meant the big bats), but sure...

Well, in Zelda's case, it was more likely a manji (Buddhist symbol very similar to swastika) rather than a Nazi emblem. However, I wouldn't really consider a pentagram/pentacle any worse than a swastika ~ sin's sin, no? At any rate, it's not like you're supporting Nazism or Satanism by playing the game. I do, however, understand your hesitance about it, and I don't want to give the impression that I disapprove. I guess we're just each bothered by different things. ^_^

Agreed.

I loved Chip's Challenge when I was a kid. My Grandma had it on her computer, so when I went to her house I would play for long hours on it. Granted I wasn't very good at it, but it was fun.

On the whole swastika matter, a swastika is a sanskrit word meaning, "Any lucky or auspicious object, and in particular a mark made on persons and things to denote good luck", to quote wikipedia. So the symbol itself is not bad, it was the Nazis that gave it the "Bad rap" so to speak.
