I don't understand why there still aren't very many videos or images of this idea. For the record, I think they could pull of aerial combat much better than it was done in Revolutions. However, most likely there won't be much flying, given that this is DB. Also, for anyone who hasn't seen it:

Reported by ANN

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-03-05/dragonball-movie-reportedly-pushed-back-to-april-2009

ANN wrote:The ComingSoon.net film news website reports that the Twentieth Century Fox production company has delayed the live-action Dragonball movie's opening from August 15, 2008 to April 3, 2009. The website notes that The International, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Tropic Thunder and Wild Child are all scheduled to open on August 15 in North America. No other film has been pegged for Dragonball's new date. The Dragonball movie adapts Akira Toriyama's fighting manga of the same name. Director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) has been shooting the film in Mexico since late last year, and Stephen Chow, the actor and director behind Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer, signed on as a producer.

The cast includes Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible) as Goku, Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera film, The Day After Tomorrow) as Bulma, James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville) as Piccolo, Eriko Tamura (Heroes) as Mai, Jamie Chung (The Real World) as Chi Chi, Joon Park (Speed Racer) as Yamcha, Randall Duk Kim as Grandpa Gohan, Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), and Chow Yun-Fat (A Better Tomorrow, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End) as Master Roshi.

There's no listing for him on IMDB in terms of DB character. Also, get this...

http://www.dragonballmovieblog.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Texas battle plays Carey Fuller, the High School bully who is sort of the "boss of it all". Shavon Kirksey plays Emi, Chi-Chi's best friend. Richard Blake plays Agundas. He is described as Carey Fuller's sidekick, a big football player and a bigger bully. All three actors have wrapped filming.

It's gonna be a highschool drama? This both... concerns and intrigues me. Honestly, I'm just in the film for the Toriyama humor and fight scenes... I loved the series for those reasons. It won't be strict DB canon, I think, but that probably won't stop it from being enjoyable. Also, the fact that they've wrapped up filming for some of the actors tells us the project isn't gonna get canned like it did before. Joy!!

*collapses* Whew. I was hoping you weren't serious.

How can they include the "over 9000" joke? Vegeta didn't come in until DBZ, right? On that note...no Vegeta. Man, that stinks. He would've been so much fun to watch.

As much I worry about live action anime movies. Even if this doesn't do well, it may help the anime in Japan.

This is due to reading Answerman's write up about live action anime movies and he does make a good point.

I've just found an incredible live action adaptation by fans. If amateurs can do it this good, there is no reason the studios can't. If they don't I'll be supremely disappointed.

Double edged criticism is killing this movie.

It's only chance is to be the best worst B-flick in the history of cinema.

I can understand why they picked DBZ as it is one of the most popular and familiar animes around so they should get at least the 14 year old fanbase and probably some older fans.
As long as they don't turn it into DBZ:The Musical it might actually stand a chance.

I'm envisioning a number composed entirely of the sounds of men screaming in harmony. Oh, and a love ballad sang by Roshi about Bulma's underwear.

On the serious side of things, the Japanese themselves have done live action film versions of anime series.Boogiepop And Friends as the prequel to
Boogiepop Phantom and then of course the live action version of Death Note.Maybe we should have let them do the live action DBZ.
