Merciful heavens!

Postby Htom Sirveaux » Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:42 am

Can it be!? After four years on the boards, The Bard of Spooniness has climbed his way to one thousand posts! Me oh my! So how has Spoony changed over the past few years? What activities does he while away his days on? What the heck does "diving lost mind" mean anyway? These questions and many more can be answered! So ask away!
*crickets*
*taps mic* Is this thing on? Hello?

*applauds*

SpoonyBard, you've made it to 1000 posts, what are you going to do to celebrate?

And now for a more serious question...one which all CAAers must answer once they get to 1000 posts/decide to create an ask me thread:

What is your favorite Anime series?

First question: Go for another thousand.
Second question: Usually whatever I'm following at the time. Currently it's Beck. As far as all-time faves though, it's hard to say although Record of Lodoss War is definitely up there.

Edit: Thank you, I wasn't sure about that.

Favorite manga: Monster. I've never seen a more well-written series. Can't wait to finish and read 20th Century Boys.

Favorite movie(s): Psych. Thrillers: Jacob's Ladder; Horror: Killer Klowns from Outer Space; Fantasy: Mirrormask; Comedy: The Big Lebowski.

Congrats on your 1000! Here are a couple of questions for you.

1. Where does your username come from? And I want the whole story.
2. If you could meet any human from any time in history/the present, who would it be and why?
3. If you could decide what the future would look like, which futuristic sci-fi movie would you want it to be like? Why?
4. So how has Spoony changed over the past few years?
5. What activities does he while away his days on?
6. What the heck does "diving lost mind" mean anyway?
7. Why and how did you join CAA?
8. If there's anything you could change about yourself what would it be?
9. Are you a dog or cat or insect person?
10. Do you think 10 questions are enough?
11. What's your favourite flavour of ice-cream?

For GeneD:

1. Where does your username come from? And I want the whole story.
It's a Final Fantasy IV reference. This bard named Edward gets in a fight with an old mage named Tellah who shouts at him, "You spoony bard!" I'm not the biggest FF fan myself, but I love the Engrish, plus as a guitarist I'm something of a "bard" myself.

2. If you could meet any human from any time in history/the present, who would it be and why?
I'd like to meet my baby "uncle," Marvin. He died shortly after birth, then came the baby who would be my father. Guess I'll have to wait til I get to heaven to meet the little guy.

3. If you could decide what the future would look like, which futuristic sci-fi movie would you want it to be like? Why?
(Cheating, since this takes place in present day) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Except maybe without the Earth being blown up. I like it here. I just want a Babelfish in my ear.

4. So how has Spoony changed over the past few years?
One leg at a time. Okay, serious answer: I've gained a lot of emotional and spiritual maturity. I'm a better man and I credit God and the CAA for it.

5. What activities does he while away his days on?
Reading, watching anime, playing guitar, eating unhealthy frozen dinners night after night, diving lost mind and working to support all of the above.

6. What the heck does "diving lost mind" mean anyway?
Another Engrish thing. This one's from the original opening theme to the anime series "Fighting Spirit." I'm not all that into it, but I dig the song. The chorus goes, "I want to dive lost mind, I want to dive lost mind, why why why why, I want to dive, feeling over." It kind of means "give it everything you've got." Like the otaku equivalent to "Git-r-done." If you don't know what "Git-r-done" means, you probably don't live around a bunch of hillbillies who think the Blue Collar Comedy Tour is the funniest show on the road.

7. Why and how did you join CAA?
I joined after leaving a certain other website. Let's just say the cons were outweighing the pros and it was beginning to affect me. At that time I was a really cocky Christian and I'd amuse myself by looking up Christian video game reviews and laughing at how super-narrow-minded they were, like when they'd call Final Fantasy evil because it contained "magic, demons and mysticism." I'd just been getting into anime and I decided to do the same with anime reviews. Googled "Christian anime reviews," CAA popped up. The name "Christian Anime Alliance" intrigued me. I followed the link, browsed with more and more interest and eventually joined. I'm very glad I did.

8. If there's anything you could change about yourself what would it be?
I'd like to find out where the line is between humility and "pride." I'm comfortable being humble but part of that is, I don't think much of myself and sometimes that's kind of a downer. But I don't know how to "hold my head up" without coming off as egotistical. I guess you could say I need to be more confident with confidence.

9. Are you a dog or cat or insect person?
I like nice dogs. Not that big on cats, but cats seem to be pretty comfortable with me. Bugs are crunchy. I had baked, salted crickets once. They're actually pretty good.

10. Do you think 10 questions are enough?
I could do this all night. But I'm not gonna.

11. What's your favourite flavour of ice-cream?
Peanut Butter Cup. With at least two spoonfuls of peanut butter.

For Fish and Chips:

Haven't got that far yet. I just started Wyrd Sisters. I think Pyramids is next, then the first City Watch book, Guards! Guards!. However, I can tell you that I think my life would be complete if I got a Luggage. That would be just the best thing ever.
