Guilty Gear X2

I'm not much for the fighting genre, but I have a soft spot in my heart for crazy side-scrolling brawls. A bizarre and varied cast, over the top finishing moves, the whole works. That said, I've recently taken an interest in Guilty Gear out of the blue, X2 to be precise, which I've managed to find off Amazon for a decent price ($19.99). I know we've got a couple closet fighting fans, and I could use a good excuse to dust off my Xbox again, so I want to know: is it worth it?

And please no comments about game morality. I'm already on top of that bit; magic and violence and women with odd fashion sense and all that jazz.

I really like the Guilty Gear Series, both for its fighting mechanics and design. For 20 bucks that sounds pretty good.

Guilty Gear X series are my faviorte fighting games of all time. That being said....go to eb before you by the copy off Amazon cuz at eb its 7.99 used i think. 19.99 is for sure worth it and all but 7.99 is a better price XD for a great game.

I guess it might not be unheard of to find an Xbox copy for cheap, but when I was trying to find a copy of the PS2 version, I was seeing copies going for as much as 80 bucks. (I eventually got one given to me by a friend who had it but never played it.)

I really like the Guilty Gear Series, both for its fighting mechanics and design.

Yeah, it was the art that drew me to it first, then I looked up some gameplay videos (via scenic YouTube) and it looked pretty fun. I've also read that Melty Blood's fighting system was based primarily off Guilty Gear, a definite plus seeing as I enjoyed that game.

Couple years back I was faced with the decision of shelling out $50 for a PC edition of Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, or $15 for the PlayStation Port. Choices.

Eh, I would say get the latest Guilty Gear iteration: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, which was released late last year. It has everything from the older iterations, plus more characters and stuff.

It is $30 on Amazon for PS2 and Wii.

Accent Core is Guilty Gear X2 with more characters, moves, and stages.

It plays exactly like GGX2. One-on-one fighting. This is not Isuka with the poor attempt to do more than two fighters on the screen.

Having played both, I really cannot see why any reasonable person would want the original Guilty Gear X2 when Accent Core is available other than financial or console reasons... or unless they are going to wait another couple of years and hope Accent Core Plus will be released in the future in the US (which I doubt at this point).

If I already had a Wii or a PS2, I can name a small number of titles I would already be playing right now. And while I'm sure Accent Core is much improved over X2, the most recent consoles I own are a GameCube and Xbox.

I'll go for the $12 Xbox title, then upgrade to Accent if/when I get a Wii or a PS2.

Guilty Gear X2 is more or less my favorite 2D fighting game of all time (or, at least, of the ones I've played). It's super duper hardcore. Start playing it on the hardest difficulty. You'll get good at it quickly. : )

I absolutely love this game. Normally, when I play fighting games I don't get much in depth w/ anything other than your basic special moves, but playing some of the modes in this kinda forces you to make the most of overdriving and bursting and roman canceling, which is cool. I also like that fact that my friends, who aren't nearly as big of fans of fighting games as I am, can actually come up pretty even w/ me most of the time, as long as I don't decide to just take my best character and go all out w/ them. So it makes it more fun for all of us when we play. Definately a great game to buy.

Really? I got mine in a lot of 3 games on ebay for roughly $20 total. And then I kinda accidentally won GGX shortly afterwards, lol.

The PS2 version seems not to be as rare/in demand now that Accent Core is out. And here I was thinking I had a rare, valuable game that I could sell if I was hard-up for cash. XD Oh well.
