SpoonyBard (post: 1194635) wrote:Just rented Voices of a Distant Star from Blockbuster. Pretty good stuff. Shorter than I had expected but then again it's about as long as KakuRenBo, and that's a good one too. Anyway, now I'm watching the complete Scrapped Princess series as well as volume 4 of Beck.

I have always wished that Shinkai-sensei would go back with the bigger budget he could get now, and re-do "Voices of a Distant Star" as the full-length feature he clearly had conceived. What we get instead is Act I and Act III of that feature, with a sharply condensed Act II.

As it stands, though, we have to forgive him for the shortened work he gave us, since he was self-financed and practically doing the entire thing by himself (it was basically done in his apartment). I choose to be amazed at what he created with so few resources.

If you haven't done it yet, check out "The Place Promised in Our Early Days", which is the Sci-Fi feature he did with the budget he scored after getting rave reviews for "Voices".

Watching the un-subbed episode 13 of Shion no Ou, dictionary in one hand and mouse in the other. It's a slow way to watch a TV show, but great practice.

One of the best ever. And to think when I picked it up originally I thought could turn my brain off and watch another mindless girls-with-guns show. Sneaks up on you, doesn't it?

Definitely. It seems to start out like a normal girls with guns, but then it deepens quite a bit. I'm just sad that it's over..

It's a really great anime, and funny to boot. Ginji is basically a human version of Pikachu from Pokemon.

They're like the Kenan and Kel of the anime world...that is if Kenan could cause people to have waking nightmares for a minute, and if Kel could generate electricity in his body.

"Awwwwww, HERE IT GOES!!!"

Saw the Truth Mushroom episode of Kimagure Orange Road on Sunday and Ninja Scroll on Ani-Monday yesterday.I thought for a rather bloody and violent anime that Ninja Scroll was rather well done.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Ep. 1-4.

The second time was the charm for me. The attraction I get from the series is like that of Portal. I have no idea why I'm attracted to it, but I can't stop watching it.

Eh, Tenchi Muyo was better. All the girls get introduced within 6 episodes, and Tenchi has the sword by the middle of the first one!

I'm currently on the Red Ribbon Army saga of Dragonball. Man, I love this anime --so hilarious!
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Kaiji episode 17
The Slayers NEXT episodes 20-26 COMPLETED

I really wish Kaiji was easier to recommend on this board, because it's halfway over and consistently awesome.

And Slayers NEXT; not as satisfying as the first season, but decent.
