"Sometimes we don't present the Gospel well enough for the non-elect to reject it."
- John MacArthur

"In the total expanse of the human life, there is not a single square inch of which Christ, who alone is sovereign, does not declare, 'That is mine'."
- Abraham Kuyper

"God the great Creator of all things doth uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least, by His most wise and holy providence, according to His infallible foreknowledge and the free and immutable counsel of His own will, to the praise of the glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy."
- Westminister Confession of Faith (Chapter 5, Section 1)

"The wisdom of God has found a way for the love of God to deliver sinners from the wrath of God all the while upholding the righteousness of God!!"
- John Piper

"Grace is the pleasure of God to magnify the worth of God by giving sinners the right and power to delight in God without obscuring the glory of God!"
-John Piper

"The very One from Whom we need to be saved, is the One Who has saved us."
- R.C. Sproul

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."
- Dr. Joseph Ton, the exiled Romanian pastor (quoted by James Montgomery Boice)

"The best prayer I ever prayed had enough sin in it to condemn the whole world."
- John Bunyan

Ah, they're really going to do it, then! That's excellent; I always wanted Peter Jackson to work on The Hobbit. I can't wait. XD

It's been a constant fight of "will they won't they." Like watching Ranma. Glad to see that Ranma (new Line) and Akane (jackson) finally get together in the end.

I heard rumors about that a couple of months ago...

I'm glad that this will be happening after all. I'm dragging my friend to see it when it comes out God-willing, hehe.

As much as I'd like to see the bear party scene, if I had to guess, I'd say it won't make the cut. He probably *could* do it well, but you can't release a 12 hour movie these days.

It will be two movies, last I heard. That fact surprised me, given that the Hobbot is significantly shorter than Lord of the Rings. We might expect a great deal of battle, then, which I am willing to forgive if they keep the less-subtle things Gandalf does.

If you ask me, it makes even less sense to turn The Hobbit into two movies than it would to put the entire Lord of the Rings into one movie. What's the point of splitting a story like The Hobbit into two movies?!

It almost sounds too good to be true! But I am happy to hear it, nonetheless! And I know some friends who will be thrilled as well.

They better not make Smaug look cheesy like the made the dragons look in the horribly made/acted/directed/written Eragon movie they made! Or I shall be angry.

Hardly crossing over, but that was the only movie I could think of in which the dragons looked stupid. So, sorry. But yeah....

Well you gotta remember, this is Peter Jackson we're talking about here. He's incapable of making anything that isn't epic anymore. He stretched King Kong out to 3 hours for gosh sakes. As for the LotR movies, each one was slightly longer than the last (especially the extended editions). I wouldn't be at all surprised if he divided The Hobbit into two films of maybe just shy of 2 hours each. Which I'd be fine with, so long as the first one doesn't end on some abrupt, jumpy "cliffhanger" like movies in certain other series.

So Peter Jackson's directing? I thought they weren't going to let him, the last time I heard, anyways...

But still, I'd like to see what they do with this, considering the cartoon drove me a little crazy ("the gre-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-eatist adve-e-e-e-e-e-e-enture..." I mean, come on...that was waaaaay too much vibrato from the singer, and the song popped up almost every 10 minutes or so...so what if I'm exaggerating?).

I liked some of the songs from the cartoon, but I REALLY liked hearing Rob Inglis narrate the "book on CD" that I have.

As an aside, that made an EXCELLENT way to pass the time on my trip across the country.

I was hoping they would do this. With Peter Jackson directing, it's going to be awesome! ^.^/

Right, and they'll have an actor in a dragon suit. Then obsessive fanboys can argue for decades hence over which one was the "TRUE SMAUG."

So...is Peter Jackson not directing the movie? 'Cause I just saw today on mugglenet.com that apparently Guillermo Del Toro (whoever he is) is directing it. (Relevance to mugglenet - he was rumored to be directing the seventh Harry Potter movie, but would be "too busy" because he's directing The Hobbit.)
