Mr. Resetti. Yes, he's not from an anime, but I don't care. Mr. Resetti is now on my list.

My, the first episode made a bad impression on you, didn't it? State it as relevant, or argue it extensively in the DN thread, but try to keep your antagonism from spilling over too much. For the record, at the moment you have really only met two of the main characters.

Really annoying character? Hmm...I have to say Team Rocket from Pokemon. I wish they just give up on Pikachu. Havent they learned their lesson yet? They are like a rotten fruit that makes the Pokemon anime stink even more than ever.

Light IS annoying, especially when he thought he is so smart that no one can catch him, but in reality, he just got lucky. L is similar to Light, both personality-wise and moral value wise.

Now that I think about it, maybe Kurumi from Steel Angel Kurumi is more annoying than anyone from DeathNote or Inu Yasha.

Aww, come on! You gotta give Seto Kaiba in the original Japanese some credit.

Anyway...I really can't stand Joey Wheeler from aforementioned Yu-Gi-Oh! or Sanosuke Sagara from Rurouni Kenshin (sorry, fans). I used to think Naruto was annoying, too, but I'm starting to like him better.

Another one or few: The fairy kids from Trinity Blood. How and why, I have to ask. How. And. Why? I almost quit watching the show after that episode they were so annoying.

For the record, they are filler characters added to the anime, not being in either the manga or the novels. Which is odd, because it wasn't all that great or necessary of an episode.

Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi.

Konohamaru from Naruto.

Quoting this because there's a quite a bit of overlap here. Totally agree with the list above and I'll add the following, which were also mentioned across other posts:

Lynn Minmei (Robotech)
Misa (Death Note)
Kon (Bleach)

If you ask me to pick the most annoying out of this list, I'll pick Minmei because her American dub voice drives me up the wall. Gah, I totally hate that "Stagefright, go away...this is my big day" song.

Debitt, Ringo isn't that annoying to me but I totally agree that she was the biggest letdown of the whole series. I was expecting much more from her.

I haven't watched Inuyasha or Yugi-Oh (don't really plan to either) so I can only imagine how tortured some of you were.

Nyan-nyans (the sickeningly cute healers) from Fushigi Yuugi. I mean, seriously. They did have about two funny lines, though (I've seen the first half of the series). Miaka's pretty annoying, too, for her English dub voice and her tendency to yell her love's name.

Hm... I've never seen Ranma 1/2 the anime, but Happosai would automatically get my vote (I've read most of the manga). Disgusting lech.

We're definitely of the same mind here. Such characters are only weaknesses, as in a well-written series humor should be able to flow naturally out of the events and come from fully developed characters. I found Trigun disappointing in great part because of the comic relief aspects.

Mave wrote:Kon (Bleach)

Agreed. When he first appeared and possessed Ichigo's body, I thought he might be a significant, if secondary, character, but since then he has been pointless and just served as the butt of jokes. Thanks to this new arc, he's also completely useless.

Thank you. You are the first person to not glorify Trigun that I have found. When I mentioned on another Anime Forum how I felt about the comic relief in Trigun, it was.. shall we say.. not well met.

But I agree. I appreciate comedy in Anime. Generally it's the weak Humour, or attempts at humour, in Anime, that don't do anything for me except take away.

I found Trigun to be an enjoyable show (and a decent Manga till it stretched itself thin), but a lot of the comic relief elements detracted from what it might have been.

Mio from DN Angel. That "Valley-girl" accent was so annoying! (As was the way she acted.)
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
