Favorite Video Intro/Ending Sequence (YouTube videos, please!)

Postby Omega Amen » Mon Dec 10, 2007 7:38 pm

When you started up a video game, did you find its intro (or ending) really good, putting you in the "right" mood? Or did you just find it just really well done in general?

Since now it is easy to share videos by giving links to YouTube videos (or other flash-based video websites), I thought it would be a neat idea to actually share the intro/ending sequence that some of us find remarkable for any reason.

To start off, here is my contribution for now:

Gran Turismo 2 Intro US Version on PS1
The song is "My Favourite Game" by The Cardigans.

I thought it did a fantastic job of synchronizing a fitting song to the video sequence, and it made me eager to start racing.

Anybody else have a favorite video intro they want to share?

Metal Gear Solid 3 - Snake EaterFinal Fantasy IX
Full Throttle
Red Alert 2

Best ending also goes to Metal Gear Solid 3, but that's something you'll need to see for yourself.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but Grim Fandango has a great opening sequence that sets the mood for the rest of the game perfectly.

Diablo 2 was one of the games where I started to develop a respect for well-made game introductions. (Very demonic-y, by the way) I also particularly like World of Warcraft's Opener along with The Burning Crusade's Opener. Both of them are really epic and just fun to watch.

Bioshock's first five minutes or so utterly made my jaw drop.

And of course, watching this for the first time on the 16th of November 2004 at 5 AM made me almost pee my pants in excitement.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Katamari Damacy and Shadow of the Colossus yet.

I have cried to this game's opening theme.

Entirely unrelated, but I hear about how great that game is, and I've never played it. How does that game relate to Nietzsche's novel? Because, as far as I know (haven't read the darned thing) that novel is where the phrase "God is Dead" was coined...

Seems plausible. The game itself has absolutely nothing to do with the book.

Tales of Symphonia:

English GC Version / Japanese GC Version / Japanese PS2 Version

I'm also totally obsessed with the theme song for the upcoming sequel, which can be heard in the recently released trailer, here. It's called "Three-Legged Race" by misono, and... the music rocks. <3

The openings to the Kingdom Hearts games are also on my list of favorites--of course--as well as the one for Shadow of the Colossus. I used to sit and watch my brother play that game just so I could listen to the music. xD

Seconded.

With all the people crazed over Portal, I can't believe no one has mentioned its ending song. Warning: obviously, since it's the end of the game, there are major spoilers.

Soul Blade - The PS1 Game

Postby Omega Amen » Sun Jan 13, 2008 4:49 pm

Soul Blade - Intro from the PS1 Game

Now that I think about it... when I was in my first year at high school during spring break, I had my wisdom teeth removed, and I was stuck at home eating yogurt all the time. But then this game came out, I finally had to chance to play it, and when I saw this intro, I was completely blown away. From then on, I played Soul Blade non-stop during that spring break, completely alleviating the pain in my mouth.
