Just received my volume 1 of "Tokyo Majin" that I had on preorder! It's cool to have it, and since I already watched the series, I really out to pay for it, but...

After the first two episodes, I can definitively say the English dub stinks. It's as badly done as stuff from ten years ago. Out of the five central characters, the only voice that is even vaguely 'right' for the character is Komaki. I'll be re-watching the rest of the series in sub, I think.

An example of bad dubbing? In one scene, a female teacher (Maria) walks in to greet the homeroom class. She calls out sweetly "Good morning, and be..." then yells out just short of a scream, "QUIET!" In the original, lots of before-class chatter in a room full of students completely ignoring her. In the dub, this line is delivered in a dead-silent classroom.

Hunh? Did the director not even read the script? Argh.

I've been pleased with many recent dubs. This one is a throwback to the Bad Old Days.

Largo: "Well Ed, good to see ya. Guess I gotta beat the crap out of you now."

Not to mention that the Black Jack manga was written by the venerable Osamu Tezuka, who, in addition to being the guy who virtually invented modern manga and anime, happens to have been a medical doctor.

Finished the first season of Cardcaptor Sakura at episode 35.

I honestly can't figure out how the Cartoon Network version managed to fit in just 27 episodes.

The point of climax has yet to come. XD

Andrew, how much. Oh wait, there's probably a review on the content here. XD

I've really wanted to look into this series for Ed alone. She reminds me so much of an Aspie.

Cardcaptor Sakura: The First Movie. It feels more like one giant episode then a story being of enough importance to be its own film. But I still enjoyed it.

Just finished up Disc 3 of Shanna. This is turning out to be a pretty good series, despite all the claims that it was 'just a Bleach rip-off'.

Actually, I looked into it and found out the original Shanna light novels started only a few months after the original Bleach manga. So even if one inspired the other, Bleach wasn't exactly the franchise it is today.

Also, I've recently discovered a fansub 'Dennou Coil' which is really fascinating. Somewhere in-between the Goonies and the Matrix, if that makes any sense at all.

Yesterday:Kimagure Orange Road episode 25:Kyosuke accidentally hypnotizes himself but the more confident Kyosuke turns out to be rather a jerk(even Hikaru says so).

Tonight:Perfect Blue on Ani-Monday:The lead singer of a highly popular

Perfect Blue was::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:
This was everything that the Death Note dub should have been but sadly isn't.A tautly acted and suberply scripted and directed psysho-thriller with
a new twist and turn in just about every other scene. The question of what is real and what isn't continuing being changed as our perspective along with
Mima's has to continually be readjusted after each new revelation. The final ironic revelation of who the actual culprit is turns out to be truelly Hitchkockian when it comes. That and the final line:
"No,it's really me."uttered by Mima at the end and thus breaking the fourth
wall makes it a must see.
Bridget Hoffman(Lain,Serial Experiments Lain,Jeri,Digimon:Tamers,
Miaka,Fushigi Yugi, etc.)once again plays the character of the Innocent
whose life is scrambled around and twisted through trauma.Wendee Lee
does a good turn as Rumi,Mima's sympathetic appearing manager.:dance:

I just watched Nausicaa (sp?) for the first time a couple of days ago. What a good movie! I love Myazaki's work! Of course there was the usual environmental message/undertone to the whole thing, but it was still enjoyable!
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Finished Haibane Renmei on Wednesday. That pretty much was the
series in a nutshell as it was mainly a Reki/Rekka episode with everyone else literally sleeping though most of the episode.I loved the ending. It was nice and sweet.
Yesterday I rewatched ep.10 of Ah!My Goddess. The last time I saw it was
subbed but this time it was dubbed.Note to self:Never get on Belldandy's
bad side.

It's odd......I watched the last episodes first in english....was somewhat disappointed....then I watched the Japanese version....OMG!!! I was near tears...Why could they not've kept some of the stuff in the english version?!!!

Anywhoo, now I don't know what to watch next.....but I want to find something...

Yesterday I went and rewatched ep.13 of Record of Lodoss War dubbed.
