I don't think it was THAT bad, but none of the "revelations" in the episode really justified a whole hour's worth of flashbacks.
I don't think it's a question of having lot's of personalities. If Bob is to be believed, it's more like her mind is looking for ways to cope with the stress of her abilities, and in her case another personality fits the bill.
I have a question, though:
[spoiler]In the blur of images Peter experienced right before the flashback began, I'm pretty sure I saw Nathan flying down in front of someone and getting shot. What was that?[/spoiler]
