the_wolfs_howl wrote:I've watched the first five or so episodes of Rurouni Kenshin. Finally, I can see what all the fuss is about. I like Kenshin so far; he has an interesting voice for a main character (I like his little "Oro!" moments), an interesting manner of speaking, that is, and it doesn't hurt that he's an amazing fighter with a reverse-sided blade. This series seems to include my favorite kind of blending between the serious and the comical, and I don't mind the slightly older animation style as much as I thought I would. The main thing I don't like is how episodic it is. Is it like that all the way through, or does it get better later on?

As the series goes on, Rurouni Kenshin gets longer and longer storylines. Because you're just starting out with the series, the first couple of episodes ARE episodic--wrapping up everything in 1-2 episodes. That will change! Sadly, that was the one thing that kinda put me off of Rurouni Kenshin. But I still like the series!

But, as usual, I digress...

I'm watching Maburaho episode 14. I had this one setting on my shelf for a while, and was actually going to trade it in, but after giving it another look and doing a bit of research on Wikipedia, I think I'll give this one a chance and start collecting them if they're inexpensive!

Watched the first four episodes of "Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Fukushuku wo". (That translates roughly as, 'Upon Mamoru, the blessings of a goddess'.) This ones constantly alternates between pleasantly silly and outright hilarious. Good stuff.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.

May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Maokun: Ninjas or Pirates? (Vikings are not a valid answer, sorry)

EricTheFred: Vikings are always a valid answer.

Just watched through The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya the other day (better than I expected, but the broadcast order is TERRIBLE)

Now I'm working on Gunbuster (from back in the day, as it were)

Just finished watching the first episode of Megaman NT Warrior (otherwise known as the english dub for Rockman EXE )...nothing terribly special, but I'm liking the concept of the world as well as the fighting styles.....

Looks like I just found myself another series to get hooked on....that makes.....3.....

Kamichu! Disk 4, last disk.

Mmmm. Not a very strong story overall, but the characters balanced it out. Although I would have liked a bit of a thicker plot. The MOE moments were very sweet though.

Next anime: .hack//Sign. I've heard a ton about this series, and am now watching it under a friend's request.

Finished Cowboy Bebop, which was amazing. I can see why it's so popular now. =P

I just started watching Gankutsuou. I don't know anything about the original book, but I really like the animation style, so I decided to try out the series.

I'm also watching Trigun, simply because I've heard it compared with Cowboy Bebop a number of times.

Okay, that's good to know. 'Cause I really like the series so far, and the episodic-ness of it is the only thing that has dragged it down. And I figured...if there were 95 episodes of this... :shady: But I'm glad to know it gets better later on.

I just watched the two episodes with Jinei (is that his name?) :thumb: Very cool.

It's a great series, but it definitely helps when you know the book. Then you can understand things before the final revelation at the end. However, I think you'll get the main gist of it without the book...just maybe not the finer details.

And ironically, it was the way Gankutsuou looks that almost turned me away from it. I stayed on because I've read the book, and I'm very glad I did.

Last week I finished up Iria: Zeiram the Animation which my mom had found on VHS at a yard sale. She called me and said there were loads of anime -- Iria was the only title that I recognized and seemed interesting. I didn't recall reading the review on CAA but thought I'd go for it.

It was OK, but isn't on my favouite list. The subtitles had a fair bit of swearing and rough language. And there was a scene or two that weren't appreciated. I guess I didn't really get into the story. Oh well, still interesting to watch.

Well I thought that at best both Digimon:Data Squad(aka Savers)and
Virus Buster Serge were ok but not world shaking.I think Tokko is superior to Virus Buster Serge, though I will still watch Virus Buster as
it has an intriguing storyline.
As far as Digimon:Data Squad goes I liked Yoshino(I think that's her name)the best so far.

"The very One from Whom we need to be saved, is the One Who has saved us."
- R.C. Sproul

"All of Christian life is ceaseless worship of God the Father, through the mediatorship of God the Son, by the indwelling power of God the Spirit, doing what God commands in Scripture, not doing what God forbids in Scripture, in culturally contextualized ways, for the furtherance of the Gospel, when both gathered for adoration, and scattered for action, in joyous response to God's glorious grace."
- Mark Driscoll

"Believers do not pray with the view of informing God about things unknown to Him, or of exciting Him to do His duty, or of urging Him as though He were reluctant. On the contrary, they pray in order that they may arouse themselves to seek Him, that they may exercise their faith in meditating on His promises, that they may relieve themselves from their anxieties by pouring them into His bosom; in a word, that they may declare that from Him alone they hope and expect, both for themselves and for others, all good things."
- Martin Luther

"I have to tell you first that I am ready to die. I have put my affairs in order. Your supreme weapon is killing. My supreme weapon is dying, because when you kill me, people all over Romania will read my books and believe on the God that I preach - even more than they do now."
- Dr. Joseph Ton, the exiled Romanian pastor (quoted by James Montgomery Boice)

"The best prayer I ever prayed had enough sin in it to condemn the whole world."
- John Bunyan

"If the Christian has lost sight of Calvary, that shows that he has lost his way."

Full Metal Alchemist Episode 15: "The Ishbal Massacre." Gotta love Aaron Dismuke's voice acting in this one :thumb:
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.
- Ellone, Final Fantasy VIII

"There's a difference between maliciously offending somebody - on purpose - and somebody being offended by...truth. If you're offended by the truth, that's your problem. I have no obligation to not offend you if I'm speaking the truth. The truth is supposed to offend you; that's how you know you don't got it."
