Death Note New Anime on Adult Swim

Adult Swim has announced on the Message Boards that Death Note will be the new anime that we've been promised for so long. Here's a link to the thread:

I don't know beans about this anime, and I'm currently printing out the Wikipedia articles on it, but from what I've heard about it it look VERY interesting...I'm especially interested in the English V/A cast; save for one person, Brian Drummond, I don't recognize any of the names!

Thoughts? Opinions? "Socks, why the heck are you awake at 4:00 in the morning?"

I can't say I'm surprised. Death Note is certainly popular enough that I was expecting Adult Swim to go for it.

I guess that's cool. I never did finish the anime, but what I saw of it (something like 10 episodes) was fairly intriguing, and I can probably find time to watch it on TV. Additionally, I'm curious to hear how the dub sounds.

But yeah, that's pretty neat.

It would make sense that Death Note would appear. It's widely popular and it's very well made.

Dang, and I wanted the Death Note club to be exclusive...now every fanboy is going to be dressed as 'L' at Otakon 2008.

I love Adult Swim stuff, but I also like to watch my anime subbed. Basically I only watch AS anime to get a feel for the show and see if I want to watch it subbed.

...but I guess it is just me.

Anyhow Death Note lost a bit of steam for me when

Death Note will fit their general perspective and lineup well. On the negative side, there will be yet another phase of people who don't know the ending and don't want it spoiled for them.

I am so excited. BTW there is a big fanbase of Death Note here in the Lone Star State. When I went to A-Kon 18 there were so many Light cosplayers I was about to faint.

Yeah, the fanbase of Death Note is already pretty massive. XD It's hardly ever been an "exclusive anime", as was noted earlier, so I doubt there'll be much of a change as far as the fanbase goes. *shrug*

Gee! Guess I really DID break the story to CAA! I thought for SURE someone was going to get it/already got it! Man, I feel needed! :lol:

Anywho, according to ASMB, Death Note is going to premiere on October 20th at 12:00AM. Which, for me, is around the time I take my first break at work..DARN YOU AT&T!!!!!

Anyway, I've never seen the anime or the manga, but I printed out (from the office printers) a summary on Wikipedia and it sounds like something worth programming my VCR for!

but I know a few people on another site that WANTED it to go to Toonami. One of them says it's "not AS material".

Actually, I was really, really surprised with ADV's dub of Air so far. It's about as good as the sub, seriously. XD

And if I'm not mistaken, I believe Viz got Death Note (though for some reason, I want to say Funimation...well, one of the two. XD).
