2007 games you're lookign forward to/wanting

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Sat Aug 25, 2007 10:06 pm

Well, there was the topic of upcoming games you're wanting, but this is moreso specifically, games of this year that you're planning on looking into/picking up. Last year had some good titles, but I wasn't too much into gaming then, and for earlier this year, still some titles I'm wanting to pick up, but not right away. Now though, I'm seeing SO many things that I'm wanting to pick up! My list, is made... With so many titles, there goes my "save up my money to move out and be able to affort rent for a while" fund :/ Oy... Well, at least Christmas is just around the corner^^

September
-------------------
4 - Lair (eh moreso my guy wants to get it, but something I'd sure love to watch^^)
10 - .hack//GU vol 3 (the end of the GU series! Woot! ...I still need to beat 2 :/)
18 - Sonic Rush 2 (yay another Sonic DS^^)
- Digimon World Dawn/Dusk (might look into it, I love the variety of 'mons they have, and this game is like a Pokemon version style. I'll see though...)

October
-----------------
29 - Guitar Hero 3 (why pick up 2 when this one comes out for PS3?^^ My guy was saying how fun it is, so I'd love to try it out! Besides, since it's for PS3 it'll be easier to find^^)

November
-----------------
6 - Star Wars Lego Wars Complete Set (always wanted to try this series, so why not pick up the set instead of both separate?)
12 - Super Mario Galaxy (a must... I still need to get Sunshine too one day^^ Just cause)
13 - Assasin's Creed (my guy wants... But another I can't wait to sit and watch^^)
- Sonic Rivals 2 (loving the first, can't wait for the second^^)
- Godzilla Unleashed (I just see the Wii one as being fun... I'll see about it though^^)
- NiGHTS into Dreams (never tried to originals, but flying around the screen looks fun to me^^)
20 - Final Fantasy 12 Revanent Wings (Still need to beat 12, but looks fun^^)
- Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (whether DS or Wii or possibly both, I'll have to look into it^^)

December
----------------
3 - Super Smash Bros Brawl (a clear must...)

Hmmmmm... I only have a 360, so my choices are somewhat limited, but there are still games I'd like to get...

The two I definitely want to get are...

September 25th- Halo 3- Basically the reason I got a 360. I'm hoping this game will actually have an ending...

November 6th- Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga- I enjoyed the first two Lego Star Wars games immensely (I even reserved Lego Star Wars 2 last year) so I'm really looking forward to this one. They say they're revamping the first Lego Star Wars to make it more like the second one... I wonder if they'll just throw in the 360 version of Lego Star Wars 2 and call it a day. I'd really like it if they polished up both games... But I'll just have to wait and see.

Shining Force III

And that's all.

P.S. I'm thinking about re-buying a Dreamcast.

All the games I'm really foaming-at-the-mouth crazy about getting are... weird. XD

The two biggest I'm looking forward to are Viva Pinata DS (FINALLY! My XBox 360-less self can play it!) and Monster Rancher DS (because I is a dork like that.) My XBox 360-less self also really wants to play Eternal Sonata, because the game looks pretty and the concept is deliciously strange.

And Galaxy and Brawl and Corruption and and and... Yeah. I also don't have a Wii.
I am going to hypnotize you with the Dancing Banana so that you all think my signature is wonderful and witty.

A Viva Pinata for DS?! Hmmm.... the preview at Walmart for the 360 had very nice graphics and just looked fun^^ Even though I heard little kids at my work making fun of how kiddie it is. Whatever. As for Monster Rancher... really liked the show but the game for PS that I tried was... different. Been too long and can't remember it too well either :/

Interesting, lately there's tons of games my guy's looking into for PS3, and after being reviewed on IGN they came out... not so good :/ Before a came even games out people seem to jump to conclusions for themselves of whether they'd like it themselves or not.

How about all you? (Just to add to the topic as well). When there's a game you've been practically dying to play for many many months and found out that it has been critically acclaimed to be blah, do you still try it out?

For me, what's in a rating? One person played it and it's one person's opinion. My rating for a game would definitely differ from the next, and I hate judging a new game that isn't even out yet, on ratings themselves :/

When it comes to game ratings, I read the main review in order to see why it got the score it got. And there have been times when I've both agreed and disagreed with the rating. *evil stare at Gamespot*

One game I was really looking forward to was Blue Dragon, one of the few games I was willing to buy an Xbox-360 for, get an overall 6.0 in reviews. And I have to agree with the points made. Cookie cutter story and gameplay does not equal a purchase from me. Let alone buying a console for.

Trusty Bell, my faith is in you...

As for a highly rated game that I just couldn't like, I have a few. But Twilight Princess is my special case as it showed even the Zelda series can have its lows. What really ruined it for me was the story. It started out being very interesting with the Twili. But after Ganondork showed up in the middle of the game, it all went downhill from there. By the time I found out why Zant was being evil (I'M WHINEY!) I could barely complete the game. The last battle in the game felt more like a boring chore then a breathtaking ending. And even Midna couldn't hold things together in the end for me.

Le Sigh. Maybe next time Nintendo. Maybe next time.

Yeah, while Blue Dragon does have somewhat mixed reviews, it has an average of 78 on Game Rankings and MetaCritic.

I'l give you Ganondorf's sudden and dubious appearance but man, I loved everything else. Both the last battle and the fight with zant were great! In my opinion at least. Zant's problem wasn't so much that he was evil as he was just genuinely certifiable, you know? And the dialogue between Midna and Link (which was, as per tradition, really just Midna) was great. I was almost crying. Man, I loved that game. Wanted to start over right away.

I haven't been following gaming news very much in the past while, being tied up with school and WoW and such, so I hadn't even heard about Bioshock until it came out and Ars Technica reviewed it, but if there's one game that makes me sad that I don't have a good enough video card to play it, it's Bioshock.

Still, I can't help but LOVE the art style in the game.

Gotta get Beautiful Katamari, Silent Hill: Origins and Guitar Hero 3. I'll eventually get Halo 3 but I'm not terribly enthusiastic for it right now. I never got either of the others even when I finally broke down and got a 360.

Should? It's published by a third-party.

And you can't really blame Namco. Currently the PS3 is very unprofitable for small development teams and the games that go with them.

It's coming out for PS3 too, right? Why should you care that it's not a PS3 exclusive? You'll still have it. Shoot, I'm ticked that Metal Gear Solid 4 is a PS3 exclusive. I totally wanna play it but there's still no way I'm getting a PS3, so I'll just have to thank the video game gods that Silent Hill 5 is a 360 game.
