Help! What are these animes?

Postby Freezair » Tue Aug 28, 2007 9:15 pm

I need help identifying two anime.

The first anime is one I have not seen in a long, long time. When I was little, my dad had a "cartoon tape" that contained various cartoons recorded from who-knows-where. I used to watch it all the time. I distinctly remember one of the cartoons was an anime. The only scene from it I can remember clearly, though, is when a boy in a robot suit and a girl are flying through a glittery hyperspace. I believe the boy had a blaster and was battling some kind of robot. I think it was musical, because I don't remember any dialogue.

The second anime is one I saw in an AMV a friend showed me. Because it was downloaded on her computer, I never got to see the list of anime the clips in it were from. (In fact, I suspect she may have made it herself. She likes to do that sort of thing.) IT used a variety of clips, all of which I recognized--except one! Gah! The one I didn't recognize had a little boy who looked sort of Elizabethan--he had curly blonde hair, and was holding something. He was looking sorrowfully down into a chasm of some kind. The picture looked more like a drawing than a piece of "active" animation. Anybody recognize it?

Elizabethan, you say? That's a bit of a puzzling one there, that's for sure. Rose of Versaille. . . perhaps? It's not exactly Elizabethan, but it might be close.

The only other anime that I can imagine it might have come from was RomeoxJuliet, but that show just premiered this season, so I'd be a little surprised if that was it.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Man, if the boy were brown-haired instead of blond, I would go with 'Nobody's Boy Remi". From the same time-period, an anime version of "A Dog of Flanders" had a blond-haired kid. That's pretty obscure though. I can't come up with anything more modern to match the description.

The hyperspace one... hmm. There's just so many old robot anime to choose from! For really old stuff, well, Guy + Gal + Robot combos come up in Orguss, Robotech and Gundam, and all of those date into the early eighties at least (I'm thinking Gundam actually goes back into the late 70s.) But they don't even make the tip pf the iceberg.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Maokun: Ninjas or Pirates? (Vikings are not a valid answer, sorry)

EricTheFred: Vikings are always a valid answer.

Yeah, this was a while ago. A few months, I think.

Wikipediaing Rose, it looks like we might have a hit. The art style definitely had a similar "vibe." But I'm not sure the kid in the picture was Oscar. Is he ever shown as a small child in the manga/anime?
