My cousin

Postby Jeikobu » Wed Aug 15, 2007 1:34 pm

Hey all, I'm dropping by for an important prayer request.

This a long story with a lot of details so I'll summarize it best I can. 12 years ago my cousin hung around with some of the wrong people, got drunk, and one of his friends gave him a gun. After commotion started with someone my cousin knew, he fired a warning shot in the air, but that bullet ended up hitting the person and nearly killed him. My cousin was thrown in jail, and was given a terrible sentence, one far too long for what he had done. You have to understand, my cousin had always been very well behaved and never had a criminal record before. Also, the person he shot had bullied him and been nasty to him for a long time before this. But because of the lack of justice in this legal system of ours, he's been in prison for 12 years. During that time he has grown a lot, and is repentant for the mistake he made. However, the guy who got shot, along with his family, have been very bitter and hateful toward my cousin, and have also been extremely hypocritical. Worse yet, the authorities are still being very unfair to my cousin.

The fact of the matter is, he's served his time, and then some. My family and I attended a hearing for him yesterday, and there's a chance he could be set free. But the hearing was very biased, and my family is really doubting that the decision on my cousin will be a good one. The guy who got shot and his family were there too, and they haven't changed a tiny bit.

So what I'm asking is that you all would really pray hard for my cousin to be released, and that he'd find the Lord and put his trust in him (he believes in God but I don't think he has a personal relationship with Him), and that God would also reveal Himself to the guy who was shot and his family. Please pray that God will work this all out according to His will and that He would use this all for good.

Thanks.

Bad news. I just found out today that my cousin has been given 3 more years. The board is being completely unfair and one-sided, thanks largely to the incredibly fake, manipulating family of the guy who was shot. My aunt is going to appeal this, but it's not looking good. Please, keep praying that God will work this out for His will and that my cousin will finally be freed and for once shown some justice.

I can relate to your frustration with the judicial system. However, things are rarely black and white. Make sure you examine your own heart for bitterness and bias as well.

Feel free to PM me if you would like.

I am praying.

“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!â€
