Based on the new gameplay modes and tweaks to existing ones, I think it will be fantastic in a very Haloish fashion. I think the people playing it on Live will be Turds by a large majority.

For the most part, I think it will be a solid game worth playing. A game that will be over-rated by fanboys, and under-rated by hardcore PC gamers. All in all, a fantastic multi-player experience graced by a good single player campaign.

In other words, worth a buy.

Well seeing as how halo 2 was the best shooter of it's time...

halo 3 will have a far more superior engine, with more weapons and improved gameplay, this is probably going to be the greatest shooter ever.

I wouldn't go that far. It's a pretty good shooter. The first two had some quirks I didn't really like, but the Halo franchise has been a strong one.

I don't think Bungie is going to break any new grounds with this game, which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

Halo 2 was a very strong and well-made FPS game, most significantly for its multiplayer modes. So I think Halo 3 will pretty much be Halo 2 with a visual overhaul and some tweaks thrown in for good measure.

Maybe not worth all the hype it is getting and will continue to get, but it will definitely be an awesome game.

Best game in the world. Forever. And ever and ever and ever.

*embraces his fanboyism*

But seriously: four player co-op. Thank you, Bungie, for your kind gift of being able to waste a night messing around with random things in campaign (took me a full two minutes to spell that) with THREE of my friends instead of just ONE.

Good point there bro, but remember that there are also other great shooters out there. Like RE4, Gears of Wars, FEAR, Prey etc.

It would be great if there were more weapons and game play as you stated.

Overall it should be a great game.

Another nice addition to Halo 3 would be to explain Masterchief's origins more.

Mm, Halo has never interested me. I'm not saying it won't be a bad game, it just doesn't interest me.

I prefer playing as a girl.

4 player co-op sounds pretty sweet, except for the fact there are going to be 4 master chiefs and, storywise, there are only 2 surviving Spartan 2.0s, one of whom was in a coma... Unless they've been making new spartans, which takes a while, it will be distracting, storywise, just like co-op was in Halo 2.

I just want to see MC "finish the fight." I don't really care about multiplayer.

Bob, you really need to check this out:
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=thesoundofsack

I'm really happy that you get to just play the whole game as Master Chief. That was one of my many complains about Halo 2 (singleplayer).

Anyways, Halo 3 is looking great (despite that trailer) and I just hope you can drive the Elephant (think UNSC Jawa Sand Crawler) in single-player. Maybe even fly the Hornet. *crosses fingers*

Ok... That... Was awesome... Woot!

Co-op is actually worth playing... Even better than Resistance's and Gears because even though those are different people, they're not really worked into the story. Working these characters into the stories is much much better.

Since it's 4 players, I want to play with a lot of people on co-op instead of doing multiplayer

Yeah it's interesting. I'm not a shooter fan personally and the first game was fun somewhat (since it's one of the rare times I play a shooter, and multi player is always best^^), but I just hate the overratedness of it :/ Halo this and Halo that... kinda like why I hate iPods^^ Now if they made a Halo iPod, oy... :/

And from people I know that have been gaming for a while, I get the comment "I don't know what is SO special about it? I've played many shooters, and they're nothing overly special about it... Not bad, but still not amazing..."

For Halo 3 yeah, WAY too many fans and yes I think it'll be huge for them. Over the past few months I've constantly been having customers ask for Halo 2! But they're always sold out everywhere (no EB or anything in town), but apparently that alone is going strong... except for PC since it's Vista only (booo Vista!) Some do think 3 will be like a 2 remake practically, and I agree, but I have a GOOD feeling that if our Walmart competition doesn't get most of the sales, they'll be GONE from shelves at my work one day 1... Then again, even WITH competition it'll go fast since a store only caries SO many copies, they'll be forced to come to us and have me be busy :p I SO hope I'm working that day I LOVE being busy and helping customers with games^^

It's a true killer app; I'll buy a 360 just to play it. Seriously. The huge number of weapons, combined with all those vehicles and awesome gametypes amounts to nothing less than pure multiplayer bliss. The campaign will be cool too, of course, but I'm mainly concerned with using it to get the new armor I want. :D

Hah! Zune... Can't play iTunes stuff, isn't worth having (though iPod can't play napster, so...)

So totally off topic... In the end, I just want to see them throw the ILB fans a bone, and get some of those characters in the game... Jan, Jersey, Kamahl, Rani... Durga (provided she's not rampant by this point) If they don't do this, it will be a disappointment, but I'll be glad to see the end of the story.

The Zune is horrible for many other reasons. Not just because it can't play stuff off of iTunes.

Ah yes, how true...

With the whole deal of it being THE best shooter, I still don't understand... Don't think any of those guys can camouflage into their surroundings like Snake in the new MGS^^ Huh? Huh? :P Yeah... don't think I'll ever understand Halo fandom :/

Psh. In halo 2 you didn't need surroundings to camouflage, you just pressed a button and walked around. ;)

Seriously though, Halo is a great game, it's just not the end all be all that some people seem to think it is. xD

Pfft, camouflaging with your surroundings is for wimpy people who hide from the bad guys. One doesn't need to blend in when one can totally destroy everybody with some well-placed frag grenades :D

Well I'm just kidding XD Sneaking around is fun, and Halo is definitely not the best shooter out there. It's still a lot of fun though :D And is probably the most fun multiplayer shooter to date (in my opinion)

Hmmm, I think Halo is a fun shooter worth getting, far from the best shooter out there. Just basicly pretty solid in terms of most aspects about the game. Got some cool multiplayer too.

I personaly enjoyed Gears of war tons more than Halo 1 and 2, but they got two completely different engines in terms of shoot em ups. *Gears of war beeing an extremely violent game*

I will be getting halo 3 pretty soon. Look foreward to playing it.

I read a review and was sorely diappointed.

I am a casual gamer, I CANNOT compete with online players nor do I have the desire to pratice enough to do so. I have a job, I like to do other things, I cannot marathon a game, nor do I wish to. As such I do not like online gaming at all.

I saddens me greatly that so many cool games are focusing on online and multiplayer. As a casual gamer I want to be able to sit down and play a game that is fun for me. If that means I like to blast my way through a Halo campaign on easy does that matter? Challange is fun, but not when that challange is insurmountable.

I read the aformentioned review and was sad to find the reviewer giving the Halo 3 single player only ok marks. AI was ify (especially allied AI) campaign was short.

Why must us single player fans suffer because everyone else wants to be able to have the highest kill count on Xbox Live?

I am disappointed, Micro$oft is way to fond of its Xbox Live.

I will not be in any rush to grab Halo 3 nor a 360. It will be around when I eventually get a 360 and knowing that Bungie ditched a campaign in line with 1 and 2 for multiplayer I am in no rush.
