Morning everyone! As you guys know, I'm a BIG Digimon fan, so you know I couldn't let today pass without doing something!

Approximately 10 years ago today, a group of 7 (soon to be 8) kids were transported to the digital world, beginning an adventure that has brought us 5 seasons of joy, pain, sunshine and rain! Not to mention, one of the hottest couplings in all of anime! So to each and everyone of you, [font=Verdana]Approximately 10 years ago today, a group of 7 (soon to be 8) kids were transported to the digital world, beginning an adventure that has brought us 5 seasons of joy, pain, sunshine and rain! Why don't we talk about the first time we ever saw "Digimon: Digital Monsters" in this thread?

BTW: Doesn't this black background make the picture look really cool?!

Eh?

Anyway, I remember loving Digimon as a child. I'd watch it almost every Saturday morning along with all the other cartoons on Fox and Kids WB.

When I saw Digimon I didn't even know it was anime,I just knew it was different from the type of cartoon I had grown up with in the '60s.

Might I inquire as to whom you are referring when you say "hottest coupling in all of anime?" Keep in mind that I'm a big digimon fan girl and any answer other than the right one may put a fight on your hands. XD

Anyways, was in middle school when I first saw digimon. At the time, I was a big fan of pokemon and me and my friends had many an argument over which show was better: digimon or pokemon. I finally saw the error of my ways and completely embraced digimon. I thought the show was AMAZING, and I loved it. I've seen the movie, like, ten times. However, I didn't really follow the show past the beginning of season three. I just couldn't fall in love with a new group of kids like I did the first crew.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

A joke, right?

Heh, I still remember the timeline for the show^^ Ah yes, it's SO nostalgic for me... I still have to get through the Tamers subs one day and Savers, I actually thought that was pretty darn good too^^ Frontiers is really the black sheep of the series...

Digimon was my first serious anime that I watched when I was 11 or 12. While I had watched Pokemon for some time, Digimon was the first anime in which the story fascinated me to the end. Every weekday on the afternoon we would rush to the television to watch the next episode.

The anime has brought so much nostalgia that I can still remember much of the storyline, Digimon, and characters. Even if I haven't seen it for years. Suddenly I have a strong desire to watch it again. XD

P.S. Patamon was my favorite normal level Digimon.

First time I ever saw Digimon was back when the first season came out, the second episode. I've been a pretty big fan of the Digimon series ever since. It's kinda irritating though, in all the years since then, and in all the times I've watched through the various series, I still have not seen the very first episode of the first series!

By the way, do you all know when the newest Digimon series will be coming out? I'm looking forward to seeing it as well!

Okay then--I have to say, the hottest couple around is Takari (Tk and Kari) and Koumimi (Koushiro "Izzy" and Mimi). I have also been known to be a Daikari (Davis and Kari) supporter! Got a problem with it?!?!!

Anyway, the first time I saw Digimon, I was in the 10th grade--the popularity of Pokemon was a bit on the waine, as DBZ fever swept through campus! (I swear, it was an unofficial requirement that every high school male knew how to draw any one of the DBZ guys.) I think I saw it during the "Who is the 8th Child?" Story arc in the first season. Since then, I was hooked! It was also during this time that my screen name and my appreciation of socks came from, but that's a completely different story that I've told numerous times!

Of course my reference to Kari growing up to become Nami was a injokey reference to the fact that Lara Jill Miller played both in the dub
version.
btw:I was just thinking earlier today that Takato and Jeri are IMO the best Digi-couple.

I have a huge problem with davis/kari! It Tk/kari FOREVER >.< they have been my favourite couple since I first saw digimon season 02!!

Digimon used to be my favourite anime! I had seen it since they started showing it and I have seen both the first and second seasons all the way through at least three times! ( I taped them) I also own the movie! I want to get it on DVD.

I saw about halfway through season 3... I stopped when they started dna digivolving with the humans... that was creepy.. plus I couldn't really connect with any of the new characters.

I think the way it goes is that Seasons 1 & 2 are in one universe, while in season 3 the series is supposed to take place more or less in a universe that is close to our own in that the first two seasons are considered 'fictional'.Season 4 has no connection to any of the others and takes place in a third alternate reality and with season five coming up soon we are most likely looking at a fourth possible Digiverse.
One of the more interesting aspects of seasons 3 & 4 is the fact that
one of the Digimon in Tamers has a sound alike name with one of the
Evil Legendary Warrior Digimon on Frontiers(Renamon-Ranamon).
It's also interesting that, with the exception of Davis, all of the Goggleheads have names beginning with T:Tai in Adventures,Takato in
Tamers and Takuya in Frontiers.

XDD Digimon was an obsession for me, when I was younger. I would have a feeling of longing for the next episode after every saturday morning, especially during the 8th Digidestined arc. ^^;

I only watched up until the end of season 3. I liked season 3 but the first two are my favorites. I do look forward to watching Digimon Savers though....whenever it happens to come on Toon Disney ^_^

My favorite pairings:

TK/Kari
Ken/Yolei
Tai/Sora or Sora/Matt (I can't choose!)

I remember a long time before I even knew what anime was, I believe I wacthed a few episodes over at a friends house...I actually just watched the very first episode tonight and I must say I was very impressed with it (while cheesy, the english dub is very good), and I can tell it is going to be very compeling, despite being made (suposedly) for kids....

Aside from the fact that counting Gatomon there were 8 Digimon, was there any real significance to the number 8 as relating to the Digi-destined?

yay digimon! I started watching back when season 1 was airing fir the first time. At first I thought it was a rip-off of Pokemon, but then I saw the last episode of Adventures and was totally blown away. I started watching regularly after that, but then stopped again at the end of 02, and didn't get back into it until I discovered Frontier subs on mIRC.

I just finished watching a marathon of all 4 dub seasons and the movies, so now I've finally seen all of Tamers. I loved the last set of episodes, everything just went so crazy. It's probably my second fave season. I hope Savers gets dubbed soon.

my favorite season is definitly Frontier!! It has my favorite character of any season (Junpei Shibayama), I like the turning into digimon thing, liked the plot, and it had the best (japanese) music of the series. "Tabidate with the will!!!" Frontier Forever!

Favorite Pairings:
Junpei/Izumi
Takato/Jeri
Tai/Sora
Davis/Kari
Joe/Mimi

It was a major "duh" factor

although I think I was only in the 7th or 6th grade so I might have been a little slower than the norm, but I think after seeing the episode where Tai goes to the normal world with agumon, and seeing that digivice, I had a slight idea...

Okay. We're. . . MOSTLY good on this score. I'm good about TK and Kari. I think that relationship has been set up since they first appeared on the scene. However, I don't know how you can possibly be a Takari AND Daikari supporter. That's just not right. I think you need to re-evaluate your life. XD

But, the ultimate couple in digimon has to be Tai (Taichi) and Sora. It was simply MEANT to be! And what happens!? Huh!? Huh!? His BEST FRIEND steals his girl!! That has to go down as the most vicious back stabbing in the history of anime. It was simply scandalous.

dang it, where did my pic go? and...how do you edit posts on this new forum setup??? Edit: ok...so you can only edit a post if it's right after you;ve made it??? O_O?

The movies don't really fit well into the seasons (except the first 1), and none of them have any effect on the plots. Here's my best guess as to where each one would fit, approximetly.

Movie 1: Before season 1

Movie 2: Between season 1 and 2

Movie 3: Any time in-between when Davis gets the Digi-egg of Friendship and the beginning of the Mummymon/Arukenimon saga (although it's really supposed to be out of continuity, from what Ive read)

Movie 4: After the defeat of Malomyotismon, but *before* the epilogue sequence showing everyone as adults

Movie 5: After the episode where Renamon evolved to ultimate, but before Calamon is abducted.

Movie 6: Between season 3 and 4

Movie 7: After the kids get their D-scanners back from the Toucanmon, but before the dark continent (although it's actually way out of continuity. It came out during the time that Izumi lost her spirit, and Seraphimon's egg isn'tin it either)

Movie 8: Unrelated to any other series (unless you think the presence of Ygdrassil and the Royal Knights makes it part of the Savers universe)

Movie 9: I have no idea ^^. It would have to be after Agumon achieves mega, but I can't think of any time where it could fit.

At least they didn't spoil the endings of Tamers and Frontiers by showing what the kids in those seasons ended up becoming when they grew up.
Although I would bet anything that Takato and Jeri ended up together.
