Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances) episodes 1-3.
an interesting series that i will be sure to continue to follow. though i'm not much of a romance fan, this series struck me with it's mixture of clever comedy and unique characters. plus, a brief break from GTO would be wise right now...

"Never Knows Best" was what was written on the cigarettes. It was really weird. The production staff explained in the commentary what it was suppsoed to mean, but I completely forgot! Sorry!

Great episodes! This really is a great series to decompress with if you're tired of watching giant robots, bloody battles, and mounds of fanservice. Kare Kano really allows you to slowly take it in episode by episode! Of course, the numerous recaps on the 4th and 5th disk episodes do kinda get annoying!
Back on subject, I'm watching Neon Genesis Evangelion Episode 10--yep. I said it.

Jin-Roh, for the second time. It's a very interesting anime movie. The animation is superb; it's extremely realistic. The metaphor with Little Red Riding Hood caught my fancy as well, so even though the movie is somewhat tragic, I like it.
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.

Yeah, I know it should get a relatively high 'bad religion' rating, since it is so heavily involved in Shintoism, but what a fun, sweet little series. Wish it was longer.

I have that on Netflix for future renting. I pray the Shintoism isn't too heavy.
Full Moon Disk 4 episodes 13-16. I can't believe I'm almost finished with this. The story doesn't feel complete! Oh well, that's what the manga is for.

I thought I was almost done with Full Moon after episode 20, but it turns out Netflix doesn't have the rest of the series leading to a total of 52! I've been steadily watching a series I won't be able to complete unless I buy the whole series!
No fair, and I love this series...

It isn't an advertisement for the religion or anything, but it is very much a fantasy based upon Shinto principles. The world the characters live in is filled with fantasy spirits, the 'eight million gods' of Shintoism, that the ordinary people are constantly surrounded by without seeing. No different than watching something by Miyazaki, really. "My Neighbor Totoro" could very well have been an inspiration for this series, since it has a very similar feel.
Ultimately, it's not a religious message at all, just another Anime yarn about a girl dealing with normal adolescent insecurities.

There's a very good reason for that.
If you look at Viz's main site, you will see that it's currently impossible for Netflix to get any more DVDs of this series as anything greater than Volume 5 hasn't been released yet.

Is that so? Well, it both makes sense that they would want to make a profit. But the sites I've gone to list one DVD at $30.

Actually, so far I'm really loving the story and characters. And while the background art wasn't paid very much attention too, the characters designs are beautiful.

Last night, I watched the "raw" version (no subs available yet) of the second season Tokyo Majin Kenpuchou Tou. With my weak Japanese, I couldn't follow large portions of it, but wow, what a cool episode. Looks like it will continue. My favorite character looks like he's in serious trouble at the end, though...
Finally saw the last two episodes of "Pani Poni Dash". Weird and wonderful to the very end. And naturally, it didn't exactly end so much as wind up in a confused mess. Which is how every individual episode ended, too, so that was appropriate.
In the last couple days, also watched a few eps of "Spiral" and "Detective Academy Q". Both look like good series.
Finally saw the last two episodes of "Pani Poni Dash". Weird and wonderful to the very end. And naturally, it didn't exactly end so much as wind up in a confused mess. Which is how every individual episode ended, too, so that was appropriate.
