Is it just me or does that blonde on Tokko have a little too much fan service going? I'm not sure I'm going to be watching Tokko all the way through. Too much carnage and T&A for my taste. If they don't give me enough of a plot, I might stop caring.

Kureha Suzuka, I assume you mean. Yeah, it's kinda amazing how the leather jacket stays in place, fully unzipped like that...

This is a gory series. There is no way around it. It does have a plot, although not all that terrible unique.

Of the current Sci-Fi channel anime line-up, Noein is by far the most cerebral. Tokko is just your basic blades-n-monsters yarn.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Largo: "Well Ed, good to see ya. Guess I gotta beat the crap out of you now."

I am continuing amazed at the way she is able to keep her 'assests' partially covered like that.I think the jacket might be glued on or something, that's the only explanation or it's part of her body.

From what I understand Tokko is only around 13 episodes so we are starting to get into the meat of it now.

And by the way:There is an actual department in the Tokyo police called Tokko, look up Tokko on Wikiepedia and that's one of the responses you get.
So that's probably where the title comes from.

I'm a little surprised they're showing Street Fighter now. I figured R.O.D. would be next, what with the clips of it being used in the bumpers lately.

That was my theory until she was wearing it zipped up while riding a motorcycle, then unzipped it afterwards. Nope. It's either telekinesis or some weird arrangement of bungie cords.

They have a 'Tokko' today? That was the name of the secret police from the Meiji period up to the end of WWII, but it was my understanding that it was disbanded during the Occupation, because it had turned into something like a Gestapo or KGB during the Showa.

Here's a bit of manga/anime trivia. Ever wonder what "Shinsengumi" (the name of the team of girl fighters in 'Real Bout High School') means? It was the name of a national law enforcement service during the Edo period. Basically a samurai equivalent of the Texas Rangers. The Shinsengumi was replaced by the Tokko at the end of the Shogunate.

Ouch! Who would do that?! I think that would be down right pointless in real life. In heaven there is no room for Double Sided Tape. Jackets there just stick right on! (But Im not sure why we would want to be wearing jackets in heaven in the first place.)

Right. That's it. I've had it with the English dub of Noein. I love this series, and I can't stand how bogus a job of it the VAs are doing.

Do yourselves a favor, those who haven't, and watch this in subtitles with the original Seiyuus. Eminently better acting, and eminently better casting.

To be truthful, I don't like Noein. Its not the dubbing although Ive heard better, its the story. I just can't seem to get a hold of it. And please don't bother explaining it, I don't even care.

But I do like Tokko and Street Fighter 2. (Yes tons of senseless violence is the way to go! Street Fighter 2 reminds me of DBZ.)

I will just say, it's a terribly complex story, and bad storytelling makes it more difficult to follow. In any form of theater that uses the voice, that becomes the primary tool for commanding the audience's attention, and the English dub just doesn't do it.

Even when I understand only 10 percent of what the Japanese seiyuu is saying, and am reading the subtitles to follow the story, a bad seiyuu can kill my attention. Just the character and emotions carried in that voice effect one's desire to sympathize with and understand the hero, or dislike the villain.

In Japanese, Yuu seems like a simmering volcano, Fujiwara seems young but strong, Fukurou and Kosagi are both at the same time sinister and dashing, and Uchida is a scientist with a conscious. You can get interested in people like this. In English, Yuu and Fujiwara are whiny little kids, Fukurou and Kosagi are bombastic bullies, and Uchida seems ready to crawl into the nearest bottle of Kentucky Bourbon. They just don't feel worth the effort it will take to follow their complicated stories.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

My favorite character on Tokko is Saya. :thumb:
What I like about her is the way she hides her feelings about what happened to her parents by trying to be all bubbly as much as possible.Or maybe it's because she was too young to remember much about their murders.

And speaking about Saya...that Ani-dissing bump was one of the funniest!

Things I expected in the Highlander anime but weren't there:
*Richie saying:"I'm sorry Mac,I knew he was your friend!"
*Queen rockin' out to the tv theme
*the song 'Who Wants To Live Forever?' being played after Moira and
Dalhia's deaths
With all that said I would have to say it was pretty good but not as good as the tv series or Endgame.

Really can't wait to get back to the regular schedule next week.
btw:Hikaru in the Noein dub is Rika from Digimon:Tamers!
Just in case someone may have missed it.saith Captian Obvious!

The lineup for Sci Fi Channel for Aug is Noein, Tokko and Street Fighter II V all month long.

The lineup for Sci Fi Channel for Sept is the same for Aug other then Sept 10th.

On Sept 10th, they will air Ghost in the Shell movie. I don't know if this the old one or they are re-airing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society.

I don't think they'll air the old one... two much will be needed to cut.

As for nieon I like the series and find it understandable, but then again, I've seen a lot of takes on that premise

I personally like Noein's art style. If you've seen the battles, it's just so detailed. Not to mention that it's a pretty mysterious show.

I'm glad it just doesn't hand you out a free explanation every two episodes. Finally, another anime that doesn't make the viewers feel irrational.

Either way, I'm glad for SciFi. I work on Saturdays and Sundays so I don't get to stay up late and watch Adult Swim. Unfortunately.

I think its the old school movie, a terrific classic. I mean, they have been showing the gags with the old movie, so you might as well put it out.

So yea, Highlander was pretty sweet i thought...
