Personally, I didn't really fully enjoy the series until the last third of it when things get REALLY interesting. The rest is a slooow leading up to it with lots of character development. plus, if you (AFTERwards) read the plotline of the game itself, makes you appreciate it more^^ At least for me... I wish they did animate more of the prologue :/

My wife and I just finished watching this series, though we don't claim to fully understand the storyline, we enjoyed it as we believe it contained some very positive themes (friendship, loyalty, trust, and love).

Tenshi no Ai's snippet from the Wikipedia article further up the page is accurate to the events in the game the anime is based off of, and helps make some sense of the anime itself. Glad you enjoyed it -- it's one of my favorites.
