Robin Williams is funny, but if I end up seeing this, it'll be for Josh Krasinski. XD That guy's pretty awesome.

I'm just going to sum this up as quickly as I can:

If I ever had any respect at all for Robin Williams before (which I'm sure I did), it all went down the toilet after this movie came out.

I don't want to get in trouble for bashing or flaming a celebrity (as in the past we have been told by the mods and admins to not criticize anime translators), so if anyone would like to know why, I can tell you through pm's. And if you want to know here and the mods/admins give me permission to say why here, then say it here I shall.

Haven't seen this movie yet, but would like to.

My favorites? I would say Mrs. Doubtfire. He also did great as a voice over for Genie in the Aladdin movie.

Good Morning Vietnam! or Dead Poets Society.
And I am old enough to remember Mork & Mindy which was a spin off of Happy Days(Mork first appeared in an episode of Happy Days where he goes mano a mano against Fonzie)

I can't wait to see this. I was laughing so hard during the previews the friend I was with seriously thought I might be injured.

I know others who are skeptical about how the clergy will be portrayed (nosy voyeurs or helpful godsends?), but I'm willing to give it a shot.

When I saw the previews for this I was a little wary of what Mr. Williams was going to say about the church marriage process. I had always been a great advocate of pre-marital counseling, but the Williams take exposed me to a side of it I hadn't thought of: a last-ditch effort by the church to wedge itself into the lives of people who had long ago written it off as quaint and irrelevant. Thankfully, though, the movie was less about the church and more about love, which really worked out better for everyone.

Wow... this movie wasn't just poorly rated, people absolutely HATED it. Seriously, they shred this movie to pieces.

This kind of sucks... I was hoping it would be awesome, seeing as it has both Robin Williams and John Krasinski. Either way, I'll watch it later in the week and give an update.

As long as it doesn't break any rules or hurt anyone personal, I don't see why expressing your opinion can hurt.

As for Mr. Williams, I don't know very much about him as I have almost no knowledge about what is happening with famous people's lives. However, my favorite film that he acted in was Hook. I like him more when he's being serious or child-like then being purely comical.

I know! I mean, he's a great actor and plays so many wonderful characters! In fact, one of my very first favorite cartoon characters (I was three at the time) was voiced by him...and is probably the reason bats don't freak me out nowadays.

But it's so sad and disappointing that he made a jab at the Holy Priesthood when he was on...Jay Leno, I think. He was making a comment about priests and celibacy, in light of all the recent scandals that have popped up in the Catholic Church. He made it seem as though all priests are pedophiles just waiting to happen. That can only be the farthest from the truth! It was only a handful of priests, not every single priest out there; there are many, many more wonderful priests out there who take their job of shepherding God's flock very seriously. But what RW did was stereotype priests. That would be like people stereotyping actors, thinking that all of them are just eager to offend some majority group with a rude comment. But no! There are many good actors out there as well, it's just that many of them aren't in the limelight.

But yeah, so that's why I'm upset; he attacked a vital part of my religion, one that I share with millions of other people in this world. So I'm very upset, because he is a very talented man. It's no longer anger that I feel...just sorrow.

Yeah, RW, don't judge them by their worst examples!
But seriously, I do enjoy his acting ability. He is a very funny person. I think his best movies are:
Mrs. Doubtfire
Aladdin (voice, but it still counts)
House of D
Jack
Hook
Dead Poets Society
Patch Adams
Death to Smoochy
Good Morning Vietnam

He's in some good movies and bad ones. In terms of the ones that I liked:

The Survivors (his best comedy IMO)
Dead Poets Society
Good Morning Vietnam

Some of his old stand-up stuff is pretty good too.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

I learned a long time ago to separate my love for an actor's performance on screen from my approval of their lives (case in point: Harrison Ford, who will probably always be my favorite actor despite his bitter, jaded life). Likewise, I generally ignore critics (no offense BigSleepJ).

Anyway, I adored this movie. I was laughing so hard I was crying and I really thought I was going to injure myself. I will most definitely buy it on DVD when it's released.

The priest character in this movie was no angel, but it was hardly a stab at the priesthood. This fellow's main fault was being a little too good, in a Martha Stewart kind of way. What really surprised me was how harsh this movie was on nominal Christians--the kind of people that could plan a bachelor party with strippers one minute and beg God for forgiveness the next. The priest was an oddball, but the movie made it obvious that these were the hypocrites.

I suppose it makes sense that most people know him mostly for his comical roles, however I found that his best role was in the film "Awakenings" (Along with Robert DeNiro). It's truly one of the most underrated films of all time.

I didn't say that the movie itself was a stab at the priesthood, it was a comment he made about the priesthood on one of those comedy/talk shows like Jay Leno or something.

No offense taken. :) It's not like I am a film critic (but I play one on TV... okay, not really).
