What Shiroi says is true. They are not really the same genre at all. The new Transformers is not that good, but the old 80's one rock.

I for one cannot wait for this movie to come out. I don't think there's no way this movie has a bad opening week, even after ALL the threads I read slamming this movie because Michael Bay is making it, and the fact that the 'bots don't have the blocky, dated look to them. I don't see what the hatred is all about?

A lot of these people who are complaining are very affected by nostalgia. I don't have a lot of personal feelings tied up in Transformers, so I'm looking forward to it, but I can see why some people would be upset. Ultimately though, it's just a movie.

Well first off my opinion, and this is an OPINION! I am not saying its right or another viewpoint is wrong.

Optiums Prime is better then any Gundam, and thats a Gundam fan talking. Optimus is prolly my favorite giant robot of all time. So cool.

Ok now the movie:

I have the same view of it that I have about all the super hero movies I have seen:

I was not all into the comics, show, or anything else so I can approach it just as a cool movie.

I personally think that people these days are not fair to superhero movies and such. They go to the movies expecting a movie of the comics and then rip it when it blazes its own trail.

Come on, they aren't gonna follow the comics! They want to make something new. Forget the comics and enjoy the movie. Don't go there expecting a 100% follow the comics movie.

Trust me, it will make it more enjoyable. I liked the Spiderman movies, Batman, X-men, Superman...etc. But I wasn't expecting some faithful comic remake. I just expected a cool movie.

Transformers is the same way. Sure I wanna see Prime be Prime and such, but barring that its just gonna be cool to see them kick butt as if they where real. I look forward to the realistic idea behind live action. Its gonna be cool.

Even if I have to walk to the theater in 114 degree weather, I am seeing this movie.

FYI: I am not a comic reader so that helped a lot in me enjoying the formentioned movies ;)

I was thinking as I watched the ads for both the movie and also the Cybertron marathon on CN this coming Saturday, that it is hard to really transfer one form of
entertainment such as anime or cartoons to another form such as live action movies,or vice versa without there being some controversy.I mean no matter how good Bay and Spielberg make it that there will always be fans who will hate it.

Well, I just went to a screening of the movie and... :brow: ... ....
:dizzy:

Man, I'm still trying to get over it's awesomeness!!! I don't know what the fans who've been around forever will think, but (this coming from someone who never got into any of the toys or tv series's) I thought it was probably one of the best action flims this summer!!!

And it actually had a story...a story that made you LOL alot, a story that made sense for the most part, and a story that got serious when it needed to.

I don't mean to sound giddy, but the action literally blew me away...I mean you literally could feel the epicness of it all....My mouth was gaping wide open during almost all the action sequences....... :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

Ok, I've calmed down now....My final comments are this: If I were to ever make a movie based on a kids cartoon and turn it into a serious summer action movie, this is how I would make it.... :hits_self :thumb:

Just another reminder that the Cybertron marathon airs this Saturday on Toonami from 7-9.
As far as the movie goes,as long as it has a decent storyline I wouldn't mind seeing it.

My fiancee and I watched the this film today. We both loved it.

Some parts of the plot in our opinions could have been better, and there were a few loose ends still (do I smell a sequel?). One part was kinda cheesy.

But overall, it was better than we had expected. We liked what we saw.

It's worth watching on the big screen at least once! :)

Just keep in mind that some of the fight scenes are too fast and chaotic looking for much detail to show through..

But, you will get to see some good robot vs robot action. :)

Mitsuki lover - Re: action sequences - true. I would have liked to see some of the moves better though. Just gonna have to slow mo' the DVD when it comes out. Hah.

Re: voices - Peter Cullen reprised his role as the voice of Optimus Prime, but I think it was other people that did the voices of Megatron and Starscream.

I didn't hang around to read the credits and see who did the other 'bots and 'cons.

jon_jinn - it's an action/comedy, so if you don't go in expecting an in-depth plot (essentially, it's the humans/Aubobots alliance vs. Decepticons), you won't be disappointed. :)

Cullen come out and audition for Optimus' voice even though he had been the original voice.

I've been a fan since Beast Wars (back in like 95-97). I got into G1 when dreamwave started to put on the comics.

I don't mind the look of the bodies, it's the faces that I really don't care for.

Frank Welker, was the orginal voice of Megatron and was turned down on the role because his voice didn't match...I think what would have helped if it..oh...I dunno...LOOKED LIKE MEGATRON!

I'm going to see it tomorrow, and just to show off...here's an out-dated Picture of my Collection.

My sister and I both agree its one of the best movies that we have seen in a long time. Oh yeah, I saw it tonight btw. It was the premiere tonight at 8pm. I even got a poster for it as well. I just wonder how they make movies like this. Once again I will say it was AWESOME!

Lemme say... I didn't like transformers growing up. I'm sorry. I just didn't. Couldn't explain it to my transformer loving friends either. Just never liked it. Watching it recently has not changed the fact.

The movie? More than slightly zomgawesome.
