That's right, Nate. You don't have to catch all 150 pokemon to get the dex, only see them. What everdred means is that nothing happens when you catch all 150 pokemon in the Sinnoh dex.

Exactly. And every Pokemon can be seen throughout the game without having to link up with the opposite version... and it's even possible to have it done right as you fight Cynthia, I think. I'm just not totally certain you can get Riolu prior to that. However, this would require you to do every 'side quest' (for lack of a better term) and you must fight every trainer you encounter; there are certain trainers that have the only instance of a Pokemon you'll see throughout the entire game.

No, Arcanine would probably kill your Raichu pretty easily, but your Raichu could probably kill the Flareon.

Doesn't it really depend on the Pokemon? xD; I mean, I sorta think the Flareon could best the Raichu. >_>; Flareon has pretty high attack and special defense (this.. might or might not matter depending on the Raichu. xD;), so if you had Dig on it, you could probably hurt the Raichu pretty badly. D:

Statistically, the Flareon could beat the Raichu, but Flareon's high attack doesn't really complement fire's specialty - the special attacks. Yeah, you could TM Dig onto Flareon, but to be completely honest, it'd be a waste. If you used Dig, your opponent would probably just Double Team. You spam dig, they spam Double Team. The Flareon could still win, but the bottom line is that all three of those pokemon suck.

my Raichu was beating lvl 50's at 45 without using type advatage so he's become one of my faves. its stats right now are:

ATK - 112
Def - 66
sp atk - 113
sp def - 87
speed- 156
its also had pkrs and has Thundershock, Slam, Thunderbolt, and quick attack for attacks. so it still far better than my Luxray at the same lvl with a:

def-89
sp atk-140
sp def-99
speed-106
and Crunch, spark, strengh, and thunder fang as attacks. Then again I like my raichu's attacks better when combined with its speed.

Compare the stats, though. The only statistic advantage your Raichu has is its speed. Luxray is more suited for what it does, and in a fight, would probably win. Also, I'm fairly certain you can teach Luxray attacks such as Thunder and Thunderbolt with TM's.

Here's my current team ^^. I'm on my way to snowpoint now for my 7th badge. So far the biggest challenge was the 3rd gym leader. Lucario was powerful (steel/fighting seems to be a pretty good combo). It kicked my butt a whole bunch of times. I finally beat it by using stun spore on it and then pounding it with Rock Smash.

Man, yeah! Compared to the Lucario in Gym 3 the rest of it's been a cake walk. Only the ghost gym gave me nearly as much trouble, and I still managed to knock her down on the first try.

lol. Lucario's Drain Punch was seriously unfair. Even when he used it on pokemon who just took normal damage from fighting, it still always seemed to take out like 3/4ths of their HP. probably the only reason I survived is my Vespiquen's pressure ability causd him to run out of PP for it.

I didn't have any trouble with Lucario. I just brought along all my bird pokemon and took it out really fast.

Remember, though, the Special/Physical split happened in Diamond/Pearl and now there are Physical type Fire attacks, which can take STAB advantages along with the high Attack power. Since Raichu doesn't have the best defense, it at least would have a fighting chance in the new games.
