Urgent intercession for a friend

Postby Anna Mae » Sat Mar 31, 2007 10:31 am

These is a close Christian friend of mine who is in desperate need of prayer. He has a trial in court around mid April for a crime that he tells me he did not commit as accused. If he is found guilty, he intends to run away from the law, saying that when man's law fails to uphold justice, it no longer applies to him. If he runs away, he would be a fugitive from the law for the rest of his days. Furthermore, he has to take medication to which he would not have access if running from the law. I don't want him to ruin his life.

I really hope that he is not convicted. I am not sure what type of punishment he might receive if found guilty, but I am praying that it would be some sort of restorative justice which he might be persuaded to do. If he does run away, I will probably never see him again because he believes that I would turn him in if I knew his whereabouts (I think there's some kind of law abligating me to do so, isn't there?). I honestly don't know what I would do.

In any case, I will be earnestly fasting and praying on his behalf.

Please, please pray for him.

He's got my prayers.
It takes bad jokes to appreciate the good ones.

Oh wow... I'll be praying, because I know someone who is a Righteous Judge above all things and knows best...

I thought I would give an update.

While he was convicted on 2/3 of the charges, he has not run away yet. That may be because the sentencing is not until June 1. He continues to need prayer, and I continue to need prayer for wisdom in interacting with him.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying.

Praying. Would your attending the senencing help convince him to go? There is always a chance of leniency if he shows up; if he doesn't, then it's the worst case scenario when he gets caught.

Actually, a day before the trial, I received a subpoena from my friend's lawyer to come and testify on his behalf. I would have wanted to come anyway, though.

Yes, my friend and his mother attended. Interestingly enough, SP1, the opposing individuals weren't there. Their lawyer was, but they were not.

Things could have gone worse. He received probation for the next two years, but not some of the most strict regulations. However, we are still in suspense as to the biggest consequence because the judge put off sentencing that part until another psychological evaluation. I'm not sure when that will be.
