I think all the upcoming seasons will be a bit shorter... and no breaks in the middle of the seasons any more.

Yeah, the producers have guaranteed 3 more seasons, which, if I understand correctly, will all be 16 episodes each. This is good, since the story won't be stretched out with filler for the 22 or 24 episode seasons, but unfortunately, after the season finale next week, there won't be any new episodes until February. >_o

At least newcomers will get a chance to catch up. XD

:wow!: :wow!: :wow!: :wow!: :drool:
.....................................AND I GOTTA WAIT HOW MANNY MONTHS NOW?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Well, first and foremost, I must admit my defeat in predicting the true fate of Charlie. Exactly why he didn't grap some diving gear BEFORE messing with the stupid code, especially after hearing all this drowning stuff, is beyond me, though... Oh well.

At least I was right about Naomi. I KNEW something was wrong with her.

As for the episode itself... Wow, too many plot points flying all over the place to pick one out, but MAN, a lot of people died. It was like watching 24 all of a sudden! Don't get me wrong, it was VERY refreshing to see that many of The Others bite it, but still... Bernard may not be Rambo, but everyone else sure seems to be.

And the flash FORWARDS... Any thoughts on whose funeral no one attended?

A FLASH FORWARD? WHAT THE HECK?? XDD

WOW. I have to say, that season finale TOTALLY beat out the first season's. Locke's alive (though I did suspect that), Charlie did die, after all (along with Mikal), and I mean...WOW. I swear, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. XD I'm glad they kept Jin, Sayid, and Bernard alive (though I wanted Bernard to get shot, after he spilled all of that information. XD

Anyways. Geeze, where to begin? XD I think that "Walt" was definitely the Monster telling Locke what to do. I was pretty surprised to find out that the boat wasn't Penny's, but MAN. Ben was actually right for once! Of course, we know by now that they won't all die, at least, not automatically. My semi-solid theory is that maybe no one dies of old age on the Island. Perhaps this could be why Richard hasn't aged a bit since he first met Ben. It could also have something to do with the fact that both John and Rose were cured, I don't know. The only thing that doesn't add up is that Ben aged once he was on the Island, along with his father, so I'm not really sure what that's about.

I loved the scene where Rousseau and Alex finally met. And I also LOVED the scene when Hurley totally TOOK OUT that guy (forgot his name) with the van. XD That "filler episode" finally has a point!

Anyways, I'm seriously curious to know what the next three seasons will have in store. Are they actually going to get off the Island? What's going to happen to Locke? Who is Jacob, and how are he and Locke related? Also, what's Desmond doing?

GAH. February will not come soon enough. XD

Well, if Jack's future state is any indication, things are about to get REALLY bad. Everyone on the Island is probably going to end up fighting for their lives against whoever sent that boat, and I bet Locke will end up the one who saves the day (at least, I'm pretty sure it won't Jack).

Speaking of that flash forward, I wonder just what the circumstances of Jack and Kate and whoever else getting back to civilization actually were? (Will be?) The fact that Jack has this "golden pass" from Oceanic shows that their return was high profile enough to provoke the company into making some sort of restitution, but the island itself is obviously still unfindable. And did Jack say something about not wanting to lie any more?

...one more thing. Was the other doctor at the hospital the same guy who was Locke's physical therapist right after he broke his back?

I'm not sure about that, I can't remember what he looked like. XD Wouldn't surprise me, though.

I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING, THOUGH. Naomi is most likely from the Hanso Foundation! The Hanso Foundation was taken over by Dr. Mittlework after it had been started by Alvar Hanso. Mittlework was a "bad guy", so to speak, and I think that that may be who Ben is talking about.

MAN. I'm gonna miss this show for the next several months. XD
Oh MY FREAKIN' GOODNESS! THE FINALE! I. . . she. . . then they. . . AHHHH!!!
Oh, my gosh! Can you believe that! I was a future flash! IT WAS A FUTURE FLASH! WHAT THE CRAP!! WHAT'S GOING ON!!??

Okay, so my family hated the twist, but I thought it was freakin' awesome. Jack has to get back to the island. That is one freakin' incredible twist.

I'm very sad that Charlie's dead, but I'm REALLY looking forward to next season. What the heck is going on. I must know!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
I definitely didn't come to the conclusion that you all did in thinking that what happened at the end with Kate and Jack was a flash forward. I think all that was what was currently happening and the rest of the episode was Jack's flashback to their last day on the island. I think they got off. Since they've never done flash-forwards before, it wouldn't really make much sense to me the other way. What do you guys think?
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
That...is actually not a bad theory. I do have a little trouble thinking that they're already off the Island, though, since there's still so many unanswered questions. Questions regarding Locke, Jacob, Hanso, Dharma, the Hostiles (who may be part of Hanso, I dunno XD), and like, a bajillion other subjects. XD All I know is that the producers have guaranteed three more seasons, so SOMETHING'S gotta happen to answer those questions. XD Maybe Locke and Rousseau stayed behind?

XDD You raise a good point, Yumie!

I was actually wondering if that's what they might be planning for the coming seasons: having the Island scenes be the "flashback" while the "future" sequences we've seen end up being the present. It seems like that would be a LOT harder to write, though, and it does leave a number of the OLD flashback loose ends undone. Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

But MAN!!! I totally forgot about The Hanso people! It stands to reason that they'd eventually want the island back after Dharma lost control of it.That'd bring up all sorts of questions about just how hard it actually is to find this place, not to mention just how big The Others actually are...

Oh, and one cheap observation: I'm sure it was actually the monster appearing to Locke, but I still couldn't help thinking "Wow, Walt's grown another year over the past month!"
HOLY CRAP!!
Ok, I've been thinking about last night's finale ALL DAY - and no one that I work with watches the show, so it was like torture for me. I love you guys who post here!

The future flash: How depressing was that?! I mean ... I just wanted to hug Jack. :( Although, something is really, really bothering me. The whole episode, we were all assuming it was a flashback of some sort (I assumed after his trip to wherever he got his tattoos) right? And why did we assume that (other than the fact that 98% of all off-island scenes are flashbacks)? Because of 2 things - Sara showed up, a well-established person from Jack's past ... but the second reason is a little more subtle. Jack's dad was mentioned TWICE. Once, as the presciber of Jack's drugs, which I'm pretty sure was actually written by Jack, and secondly, in Jack's drunken rant in the hospital hallway. He told them to find his father and compare father-son drunkeness - implying that Jack's father was still alive at that point in the flash. But ... I'm pretty sure Jack's dad is very dead on island, which would still make him dead off island, wouldn't it? It's gonna rot my brain away thinking about it, I think. The presciption thing is kinda meh, but Jack really sounded like his Dad was currently somewhere else in the same hospital. Granted, he was pretty drunk, but smashed enough to think his dad was still alive? His dad's death is why he crashed on flight 815 in the first place - not an easy thing to forget even if you're tanked.

And the Charlie thing bothers me too - why didn't he just jump on the other side of the door? Even if it didn't seal shut from the outside, the water wasn't coming in *that* fast. I don't want him to be dead, but if he really is dead, that was kind of a crappy way to have him die. Drowning is fine, but that was kind of self-imposed drowning.

Anyway ... yays for Penny! She's going to be everyone's hero, I bet. And that van speeding on to the beach thing ... classic and one of my favorite Lost moments so far.

So yeah ... mind-bending finale, and I'm glad of it, because my interest will be kept until Feb. :)

I concur, the Charlie death scene almost ruined the whole thing for me! He practically committed suicide! The water wasn't comming in fast as you said and even if his concern for for Desmond, they had underwater gear that they could get at fast AND all he had to do was close the door from the outside (outised=where Desmond was) and the pressure from the water comming in would have sealed it plenty well enough for them to get full gear on and get out.

The beach rescue scene was the best scene ever in LOST. Thumbs up to Hurly and Sawyer. I was leaping out of my seat cheering through the entire scene. That scene was forged of the purest win and heated with the firey coals of glory!

The flashforward scene surprised me! I was still thinking it was a flashBACK and I was totally expecting the person getting out of the car to be Ben. Don't ask me why, that was just the thought I had at the moment....

HAHA YAY for Sayid breaking necks with his FEET. He is THAT COOL. Additional cool points to Hurley for the van ramming bit.

Jack must die though. Pretty please? I spent all of the second season defending him but it's getting even a bit much for me. I wouldn't mind him quite so much if the writers wern't continually going on about him being a hero/leader/great guy and don't even get me started on Kate's Jack fixation and the way that she keeps dragging the other Losties into it. I think it was the point at which he practically let Sayid, Jin and Bernard get shot during the psyche out with Ben that I got seriously annoyed. I also think he should have totally killed Ben at that point, rather than keeping him alive in a fit of arrogance what with the 'HA we're SO gettin' off this island and rubbing it in your face!' *cue the intense Jack glare of doom*

Like I was saying, I wouldn't have so many problems with the character if the writers would stop idolizing him and perhaps acknowledged that he shouts alot and might be less than mentally stable.

STUPID HOBBIT! I know I've been hating on him all season but Dom was at least extremely cool this episode. His death just didn't quite feel right, like even remotely. Can't the door close from the other side? Couldn't they just dive in and swim out? Or maybe squeeze out the window? I think I might actually miss Charlie, although I'm still wondering if they should have left him dead after the tree incident. It was definitely more shocking then :/

Oo, and Alex and Rousseau, it's about (freakin') time! The bonding over tying Ben up still had me giggling hysterically.
This is a very interesting theory, it definitely makes more sense than a flashfoward. Even though I'm having slightly disconcerting memories of Alias season three (JJs other show), in which Sydney ended up three years in the future with amnesia. At which point it all went downhill and there were zombies and killer weather balloons O_o

While I think Charlie's death pretty darn stupid in the end, I feel the need to point out again that it wouldn't have needed to think about the door one way or the other if he'd GONE AHEAD AND PUT THE LIFE VEST ON FIRST!!!

As for Jack, I'm pretty sure that The Creators are puffing him up on purpose. Compare the extra confident , oh-so-in charge to the broken man in the flash forward (or should I say "present"?) scenes. The fall is all the more painful when it's from up on a high horse.

And I don't think the mention of Jack's Dad is really all that significant, or it doesn't HAVE to be, at least. He seems sufficiently out of it and desperate to accidentally revert to an old excuse without thinking.

I just read an interview with Dominic (who plays Charlie) on lostpedia.com and Charlie is for sure dead. Sigh, no comebacks for him. Also, I think I figured out who was in the coffin. I think it was Michael. I downloaded the episode in HD and put the slo-mo on the clipping. You can't make out anyone's name, but he died ("Body found in...") in Los Angeles and was "from New York." Michael was the only major LOST character who was from New York.

Jack saying to the priest that he is neither friend or family supports this as Michael betrayed them all. (If it was Sawyer he might have said friend.) It also explains why Kate is almost offended (by the tone of her voice) that Jack thought she would go to the funeral. It also explains why no one attended, as just about everyone hated Michael (including people who didn't get lost).

It also explains why Jack starts babbling about how they need to go back to the island after visiting the funeral home. Michael betrayed everyone in order to get off the island (he orchestrated his escape) and his life went to crap, Jack orchestrated everyone else's escape and now his life is going to crap. Jack sees what is happening to Michael happening to him and he probably thinks the only way to set things right is to go back.

Just my thoughts after this little discovery...

That makes a lot of sense. Reading too much into the emotions of Jack and Kate is a little risk at this point, of course, since we don't know what all could have happened between the other characters between these two time periods. Still, Michael is a pretty reasonable guess.
Y'know, it does look pretty good! I should be finished with season 3 by then (I quit watching halfway through, but after assurances that the season's ending was better, am currently catching up via DVD.)

Okay you guys, come on, time to revive this thread! XD

I don't want to be the only person excited about this! Come on! XD

SO.
I have so many more questions. XD But I have a few new theories!

I think that Jacob is the Monster, and I also think he has manifested himself as Jack's dad more than once. I saw one of the Lost: Missing Pieces clips where Jack's father is on the island, telling Vincent to go find Jack at the beginning of the first episode. "He has work to do," he says. So I think that's the shape-shifting Monster, Jacob, etc.

Moving on.

The scenes regarding Charlie's death were all really sad. D8 I feel so bad for Hurley, especially--not only has he lost his love interest, but also his best friend, and in how short a time? Poor Hurley. 8( Still, the scene where he spoke with Charlie at the mental institution was pretty crazy, as was Hurley's meeting with Matthew Abbadon, the "attorney" from Oceanic. That guy is just freaky. XD

The splitting off of the two groups was inevitable, I thought, but I still wonder what happens, as Hurley said to Jack at the end of the epsiode, "I should've gone with you." Interesting. I'm also curious as to who the other three are that got off of the Island. We know that Jack, Kate, and Hurley have left, and it can be speculated that Claire left, too, since Des had a vision of her in season 3 getting into a helicopter. We'll see, I guess. XD
So! Discuss! 8D I can't wait until next week. It's so good to have Lost back again. XD
I think the monster may be Jacob, since you don't see its face, and that it may be... smarter than originally thought.

The lawyer was freaky for what I saw... my cable blipped in the middle of that scene unfortunately. The episode raised a lot of questions and now made a sort of interesting three way challenge between which leader figure is correct, Ben, Locke or Jack, and I like the time jumping incidents where they raise even more questions when the answers would normally be cropping up.

Charlie's death is sad for sure and now its really bizarre to have him keep... showing up. Its interesting seeing everyones reactions to his death and how it affects the choices the characters are making.
