Good Monsters

Postby Shao Feng-Li » Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:23 pm

Good Monsters is probably Jars of Clay's best album so far (One of the best albums period I think...)

I mean, how many CDs do you buy and look forward to the music itself? Or expect excellent and thoughtful lyrics? (I mean, just compare with Lavigne's "Girlfriend")

So what's your favorite song?

EDIT: And can someone tell me what the song "Good Monsters" is supposed to mean?

Light Gives Heat is my favorite, because of poignant lyrics, the willingness to address a unpleasant topic, and its tie-in with the Blood:Water Mission. I wanted to perform it in sign language but I thought the meaning might get missed.

I always thought 'Good Monsters' referred to the fact people are inherently sinful but can do good. In other words were all monsters, for what we do, but some of do whats right and can be called 'good'.

That's kinda what I got. We're monsters, but God made us good ones. But the song is kinda trippy still XD

Gosh - I'm going back and fourth between like five songs. That in and of itself says a lot about the album.

All My Tears is amazing. Especially that last verse in it. Sends chills down your spine. And so does Oh My God. Even Angels Cry has such a cool atmosphere, kinda like Frail. Like being in a dream or something, heh.

I'll second that ^^

I got to see these guys live a few months back on the Good Monsters tour. Pretty cool. Especially at the end when they were pretty much taking requests from the crowd, they're very refreshingly down to earth

I picked "Work" - it opens the album and is the first song I think of when I remember the cd. That's pretty much the only reason. I love it, but there are way too many good songs for me to have just one.

You saw them? Oh man... that reminds me... they should be in NYC this month. I'd give an arm to go see them. *stress*

I picked Dead Man. It's so true.

Dead Man is the one that almost took it for me. Amazing song.

I haven't seen Jars since the Eleventh Hour tour, which was great, but a great long time ago.

Argh, how did I miss this thread?! I love this album XD

I enjoyed Work, Dead Man (Walking), Even Angels Cry, Take me Higher and Light gives Heat but if I had to vote for most meaningful song: Oh My God. That song felt like a real honest conversation with God and taught me that we share the world's sorrows with Him.

Speaking of which, JoC is working on a Christmas album. Check out their blog. XD http://www.jarsofclay.com/tourjournal/index.html
