I mean, yeah everyone is nice here and all, but I just don't feel like I belong here, I mean I wrote a thread asking for help privetly about something, and all I got was one PM about it(and the thread had like 20 views <_<) and its not just that, my real problem here began when one of the admins, knowingly supported bootlegs, I mean what ever happened to "Thou shall not steal"? No I'm not going to name names, and I no one is perfect, but I think leaders should set an example, not try to bend the rules. So yeah, I know I'm going to get banned for this(but since I'm leaving...) but I'm honestly done with it, if anyone wants to keep in contact with me, my MSN/e-mail is public, so well.. bye!

:shady: that's the most ridiculous reason for leaving I've ever heard...

Newbies can feel a big unapreciated, but you're still new, Heck the only person that reads my CAA blog is cbwing0! I don't whine about it.

And there was a law passed about stuff like that.... So don't think we're all commiting crimes against the 10 commandments. If fansubs are so illegal then how come there's never been a court hearing about it? EVER? IN the history of Fansubs??? Because company's don't care, Haven't you seen how fansubbers leave their e-mail address and web URL on there work? It's so easy to find them and Anime artists don't go chasing after them, because it's publicity.

If there's a certain DVD, and it's region 3, PAL. Only you can't buy it, becasue you live in Region 1, and your dvd player is NTSC. And you find a BOOTLEG that's ALL Region, NTSC... Buying it isn't illegal. You have no other chioce. It's really one of those, Who cares? type of things.. NO-one cares.

Did you know it's illegal to have a garage sale??? Becaue you're not paying income tax on what you sell? So you're saying we all steal and dab our fingers in illegal activity. Nope. it's just another "NO one cares" law...

Don't leave CAA, just stick around a bit longer. you'll make some freinds, and be happy. Just give it time. You can't grow a Chia-pet in a day ya know. It takes time.
I'm leaving CAA perminantly. i've wanted to do this for a long time but I've never gathered the courage to let go.

I care actually, and you do have a choice, don't buy it. And people also buy bootlegs of region 1 DVDs.

Lets not sugar coat things. You are talking about me. You PM'd me and asked me what I thought...so I told you.(sorry for being honost I guess) I also am sorry that my convictions are not the exact same as yours. The staff has made it quite clear that sites such as Animeniacs are considered bootleg sites. The staff does not officaly support any shady sites like that...however, staff members are people and we all see things differently. Its up to someones personal convictions. I am sorry that you cannot hear others opinions without leaving. Best of luck.

I wasn't trying to be obnocsious. But leaving because of a few things like that is ridiculous, christian and secular attitudes alike will agree.

If one person on the message board sins does that mean the whole place should be condemed? Comon now, CAA is possibly the best christian community out there, If you want to leave then it's your chioce. And we will miss you. It's just that your reason for leaving is sort of -> ?(o_0)? <-. I mean it being your chioce you don't have to provide a reason at all. But I remember when I was a newbie I almost left for good too.

I also download fansubs, but if the anime is available in america then I usually delete my fansubs and buy the anime, other times I'll keep my fansubs and still buy the anime...simply because the american version is translated by 4kids :shady: Shatterheart isn't the only one, a lot of us favor fansubs. Anyway that's all I'm going to say, there's a thread specially made for discussion on wheather fansubs are legal, this is just your goodbye thread.

If you can't tell what I'm getting to [whisper] I'm trying to get you to stay, CAA is such a great place with so much to offer, why leave it?[/whisper]

Vyse, my dear, I must say that that is a very weird reason. I didn't see your thread, but maybe people just didn't know what to say about it, or weren't sure how to phrase what they wanted to say. *shrugs* I think that's a little silly. As for the bootleg thing, that's a personal opinion on a matter and you shouldn't take offense to it. I compare that to my "fight" with blueraven over the best color. It's a personal bias and shouldn't hold much sway over decisions.

Sorry if I sound a little snippy or anything. I'd like you to hang around and maybe get to know you better. It's up to you, I suppose. Hope whatever you choose turns out for the best.

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Vyse, you may not see this anymore but let this be a general message to all.

Vyse wrote:I mean I wrote a thread asking for help privetly about something, and all I got was one PM about it(and the thread had like 20 views <_<)

Please understand it's very hard for each one of us to reply to every single thread. *looks at prayer room and sighs* Bless that soul whom PMed you for that may be the only reply that truly matters. Just a word of response from one or two people is good enough for me even the thread had 200+ views over. I hope everyone learns to appreciate that. :)

and its not just that, my real problem here began when one of the admins, knowingly supported bootlegs, I mean what ever happened to "Thou shall not steal"?

Please take this to PM. If you have and still don't get the response you wish, why not pray for that individual and still love him/her? I don't know what you plan to achieve by posting this.

anyways, you are welcomed here. :) Whatever your decision may be, I wish you the best and may God lead you along the way.

Stay or go, God be with you brother.

Personally, I think having a problem with some of the ways that things are being done is a great reason to stay! What better way to show the light of a situation than to be that light and live as an example? However, I do realize there is a certain grace in retreating if a battle is too large. I think lil vacation might be a good thing. Link up with someone more spiritually mature, and use the time to grow. After that, should you decide to go: neato for you. Should you decide to stay: neato for us. Either way, God bless!

Wow, this is a bummer. I'm sorry that you feel like you have to leave, but I'd also like to say up-front that nothing you've done is ban-worthy. It's not against site rules to disagree with a member of the staff.

I understand your feelings about bootlegs, but I'd also like to clarify something that maybe some newer anime fans aren't aware of. There's a huge difference between fansubs and bootlegs. If a series has not been licensed in the US/UK, then it's perfectly legal to buy or download a fansub. That's also why people can legally offer fan-translated manga for download that hasn't been licensed in the US/UK.

The line gets fuzzy where fansubs are also usually bootlegs. Since the original Japanese DVDs are rarely compatible with players in the US (as Volt was explaining) and don't have English subtitles - people will create bootlegs of the Japanese DVDs, add an English (often Chinese as well) subtitle track. These are not illegal to buy or download. I have no problem with buying fansub DVDs - this is why I can do reviews for Scrapped Princess and Angelic Layer (I wrote the review before it was released).

Then comes the part of buying bootlegs of series that have been licensed. This is, for the most part illegal (I've heard that there actually is some fine print in there that says it's not, but I've never really researched it.) This treads the same ground as downloading mp3s and other various file sharing. As Shatterheart has said - CAA does not directly support this action nor the sites that sell bootlegs of licensed material, but it's all up to the individual after that.

Again, Vyse, it's a bummer to see you go, and I'd love to see you change your mind and end up staying. Regardless, I wish you well at other message boards, I hope everything works out for the best.

I'm gonna be honest Vyse, and you might not like me saying this (and I don't mean it to be cruel), but this thread seems a bit childish... I know cuz I've done this sort of thing before myself ;) ( note: though not here )

That said, don't let a lack of response to your messages get to you, I've made quite a few threads that never got any responses, or very few and have disapeared into the archives.

As others have said, it could be that no-one responded because of time, the thread didn't catch their eye (I read new threads almost daily, there where 6 pages today, I skipped Wednesday due to time and had 10 pages to deal with yesterday), I have found that by the time that I get to the end of the threads (I open each page of the new messages search in a tab) I've found that often time I have to back up a page or so because the vBulletin cookies have expired. On top of that some people may not know how to respond... and depending on the nature of the question it might be better suited to local mentors of a sort.

As for the "thou shalt not steal thing"... I've been there...

I've had to argue with PASTORS and their associates on why they can't just be coping this software or that around... I've delt with fellow believers who have tore up one side of me and came down the other on the type of games I play, the movies or TV I've watched, and then they pass MP3s around of copyrighted Christian music... a serious violation of Copyright laws. Casual piracy of Playstation games and PC software is common, get used to it. There is no guilty by association.

As for Shatterheart's position I can't say what the deal is, but I've been around here for a while, and I respect all the Mods/Admins. I've been in groups where the leadership is lacking in one way or another, and I don't see that here.

And Volt had some interesting points... that $5 bill you find laying on the ground, do you report that on your taxes? You're supposed too, the pennies and whatnot too. The IRS wants to know about all of that... tips, garage sales, the money you earned cutting the neighbor's lawn, etc. There are all sorts of places where people don't obey the law of the land.... heck, that Avatar if you didn't create it yourself (i.e. - your own character) is technically illegal without written permission from the author as well as the companies that are involved in it.

I'm not saying to bend your beliefs or anything, and I don't think anyone else is saying that either... but if you start dis-associating yourself from a group because one or two members (or even leaders) have a slightly different view on a grey area (if he was knocking over 7-11's that would be a different story :D ), anyway, you'll find yourself very alone indeed.

Hopefully you'll choose to stay, but that's ultimately you're choice.

We'll be sorry to see you go if you do decide so.

Actually the $20 dollar bill I found on the ground was returned to the mall customer service.

I can pick a good half dozen people on these forums that I don't agree with on one issue or another, even picked nits with them in the past... yet I stay because the overall good of what CAA is about as a community outweighs any differences I have with anyone here... and those differences aren't what makes those people who they are, just part of them.

You totally missed my point, and I'm afraid evaded my original question. But you're not responsible to answer to me for that (frankly I don't care)... you only need answer to God (and those who's authority you are under for a time, i.e. - pastors, teachers, etc.).

In the end we only need one person in our lives... however God saw fit that we needed more, which is why he had his followers write to not forsake fellowship with others.

Either way, from what I've read it sounds like you might stay... for that I'm glad, the more the merrier, or so the saying goes.

Just one last unsollicited piece of advice from someone who's been around the track a few times more than I care to think about... (and I still have a long race to run) .... learn to pick your fights. Some things aren't worth fighting over. That doesn't deny you the ability to be clear on where you stand, but some things aren't important enough to fight over.

We as Christians, believers, followers of Jesus/Yeshua... we lack effectiveness because as a general rule we do too good of a job bickering amonst ourselves, putting up walls and dividers... too much us vs them.

In my training for my new job, and as part of our Quality Reviews we are marked off for using the term "they" when refering to another department or person.... why? There is no us vs them, we all represent the same company, we all should be working toward the same goal, and we don't want the customer to think of us in any other way. You'd be surprised how hard it is to NOT use the word "they" in that situation.

We as believers are in the same boat.

But I'm rambling :p

C U around the forums! :thumb:
