Actually, I reject your definition of victory and substitute my own, because by the current definition some exceedingly successful people would be rated as absolute failures. Like Sir Isaac Newton, George Handel, Nikola Tesla, Adam Smith, the Wright Brothers, and the Apostle Paul. And that's just the beginning. Thus I would posit that victory does not consist in having a significant other of some level of relationship status. The exact definition is probably up for debate, especially in a game where no one actually wins forever (because if all else fails the GMs will fabricate new enemies for the players to have to fight). Thus we have four choices: declare someone victor based on arbitrary guidelines, declare everyone a winner and make Puritan sick with the cloying saccharine sweetness of it all, declare everyone a looser in a fit of malice/irritation/rage/what-have-you, or take the logical route and declare such categorization open for interpretation. I elect the fifth choice: dinner, a good book, and relaxing, because, after a long day of engineering duties, I deserve a break.

...wait...we are all forgetting something here...according to Zarn himself, I'm "totally more awsome" then him. Therefore I am the only true winner here, since I am the only one here who has achieved my "life long goal" (though it neither lasted the length of my life nor was it ever really a goal of mine). So, I guess I am the only one who doesn't fail...but it's lonely out here in the world of success...

So that's where that quote came from...I ran across it somewhere and it seemed apt. I've never actually seen the show, to be honest, I don't think my television would pick it up (given I don't have cable or even a TV antenna for that matter).

Well then Puritan...you fail for the simple matter that you are currently too poor to afford cable, nor McGuyver enough to create your own antenna out of a wire coat hanger (though you wouldn't be able to see the show anyway since it's on the Discovery channel and I'm pretty sure that is cable only), and for being to busy to just watch the episodes on YouTube...

Currently too poor to afford an antenna....hardly. I could have picked one of those up at Wal-Mart even when I was a poor grad student. It's more the fact that I have less interest in watching broadcast TV than in reading, watching DVDs, going out with friends, that sort of thing. I simply haven't bothered to either buy or jury-rig an antenna, and I'd much rather spend the money for cable on other things, like Pocky or an illuminated copy of De Machinis.

well...that still doesn't change the fact that you still fail...of course, if I were to compare my current economic state to yours...well...yeah...I'd probably would be such a failure that I wouldn't even make it into the spiffy version of YouFail.org...instead I'd be in the silent not nearly as awesome version...by myself...

Normal? Hmmm...doesn't seem to be in the official thread dictionary. How odd. Must be a figment of your imagination, Kali, here there is no "normal".

You know what? "Normal" people scare me!
When someone who is messed up as much as I
sees "you know what" hit the fan,
I move.

When a normal person sees the same thing
they just stand there like a deer caught in headlights!

And then they freak out because that was the worst thing to happen to them.

Exactly why he wasn't sure. But according to my observations of the outside world, "normal" includes standing around and attempting to look cool by folding one's arms and assuming a superior air.

Now what would an undead space vampire look when "normal", according to the above definition? o.O?

He'd look..."normal?" Wait...don't Immortal Space Vampires stand around, with their arms cross and assume a superior air? Or maybe that's just "normal" vampires...

No, immortal Space Vampiress float around with their arms crossed and ALWAYS emit an energy of ultra high superiority. This is so high in fact, that even Mr. T would pity the Chuck Noris that would contemplate messin with a Space Vampire... Of course, in the end, Mr. T is the only humane with the power to defeat an Immortal Space vampire...

Hey don't forget Jackie Chan! Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee would so go Kung Fu on that Vampire!

Or James T. Kirk! He'd so go Klingon on that Vamp.

Hmm.... something suddenly comes to mind.

In "Nations" I believe we use the name "El" in place of God correct?

So a Christian could consieveably include a variable of -"El" in thier name. No?

So, if this is true. Then couldn't Kali be...

Kal-El?

And if so, would I be Hak-El?

Pas-El? or simply Pasc-El?

Etc.

Actually, a fun little fact about the N&S version of the meaning of Ishtare is Ishtar-Een, which translates as "Weaver of the Waves Of The Energy Of The Holy One". Yeah, Een. The ancients really liked to pack alot into those little boxes, yepperdoodles!

Hmmm...Zarn's post has given me a new idea...Peanuten! There...I now have my name...all shall bow before the fury of Peanuten! Hmm...I wonder what that means...well, if I've interpreted Zarn's translation correctly...then my new found name means "Peanut of The Holy One"...or something like that...

Would that be something like a fig nuten? Mind you, the ancient's ain't got nothin on the Chinese... but then again, they can't understand each other when they discuss things without writing down the symbol that describes them :P. I wonder if the ancients had a similiar problem with trying to pack so much meaning in so few syllables... but then again, it's Zarn's langauge... so who knows :P

Or....

In the RP, the ancient Egyptians called God Atem or Aktem. Therefore I like the name Aktenhotep!

Atem/Aktem(n) = "creator"

hotep = "is pleased"

"Atem is pleased"

Let me explain quickly about ancient:

the farther back ancient goes, the longer the words are. This is because the first langauge was a song, longer than long. Yeah, rhyming. Anyway....

Over time, due to more human constraints (Ugh, I'm skipping so much story here) the langauge was shortened, something like this:

Original Ancient: EnaotainShalieferiosiacalisaytao Bishienaviasotecatesolatafificata
(That translates very roughly as "hello." You see the problem?)

Now, more common, speakable ancient

Common Ancient: Enoshalial Bishesolata. (or something like that.)

see?

Do not be disgusted by the Latin from a pig...it is a most noble language and is used by many world wide. Most notably in that small, sketchy book shop on the corner of 5th avenue and A street...
