The iPod... a failure?

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Tue Mar 06, 2007 7:29 am

Thats what they thought five years ago.

I find this quite amusing.

Heh. Some of the stuff people at large were saying about it is pretty funny, in retrospect.

What's also interesting is that 5 gigs was supposedly so huge. XD Now they have 80 gig iPods...Technology's come quite a long way in 5 years. XD

I somehow feel that every one of those people have an iPod now. That's funny. XD

LOLO, i remember that time. I was sadly part of that crowd. I may be a mac guy but there's always cons with a company. I was pretty immature anyhow...

Note: yes...I've been using computers since I was 6.

Well, I don't know what to say since I've been using Creative MP3 players for quite some time now.

Sure puts things in perspective for how fast the times are changing. I think that's a great reminder of where we were 5 years ago. I just can't believe it. Great link. XD

I remember when I thought the iPod was not worth it... Now I have my shuffle, because I won it at the school, and I've been converted... It's now the nano that I find pointless... Video iPod and Shuffle are the good ones, heh... When I found out you can organize the songs the order you want them to be in iTunes on the shuffle, I no longer see the need for the Nano. That's a different story, though.

It's funny, about that time, there were quite a few people who said PS2 was stupid. Making it DVD based when CDs would have been just fine, and they could have cut 50 bucks off the price so it would be more competitive with the dreamcast. Making it 300 bucks, while you had the dreamcast out that looked better than launch games for the PS2... No good launch games, few games upcoming... Hardware failure left and right. PS2 looked like a failure the first year. Much like the iPod.

That reminds me of a line from legendary frog, but, heh, I won't mention that one.

I'm perfectly fine with my 1 gig shuffle, really... I just change the songs on it every night to the ones I want to listen to... I've got Japanese lessons on there right now...

The Shuffle is a really neat little gadget; it was my first look into the world of iPods. XD I took my brother's on a two-week trip to a college campus a few summers ago and fell in love with the thing. Mine was the kind that's shaped like a pack of gum (these new ones are even smaller). The only downside is that you can't see any information about the song that's playing, but if you don't have a problem with that, it's great.

Of course, I couldn't survive with one for a long period of time, since I now have over 3000 songs (something like 8 days' worth of music) on my 30 gig. XD
