I just got the first volume of the One Piece GN a couple days ago right after I watched Pirates of the Carribean at the theaters. I haven't read all of it yet, but I love it so far.

This is one I've been wanting to try. And yes, the art style looks pretty unique. What or who is that little deer marching along beside the humans in the pic?

I have a feeling that some of the crowd that hates the new art style for the GCN Zelda will probably not like the art style of One Piece, but I love it. It's a very nice art style and very cartoon like. I have also seen some of One Piece in Shonen Jump and the parts of it in there were cool too.

I'm not too big on the art style, but I still read the thing. Also, I'm not too big on humor, which doesn't help it either. Still, it has potential to be good, I'm waiting until I see Zoro fight Buggy's 2nd mate before I make judgements about it. Because I've been disappointed with the action so far...

From what I've heard it sounds interesting but that art style looks kind've strange.

It is strange, it depends on if you can get around that. Also, he can draw more normal looking artwork, he just doesn't do so often.

Okay, now this thread has encouraged me enough to buy the first volume. I'll let you know what I think once I've read it.

3 days pass...

Okay, I read it. It was pretty good. I actually liked the artwork. It was a little different than what I'm used to, but still good...that's the kind of variety I enjoy. I'm not sure why, but I generally like pirate stories, and this was no exception. I won't put it on top of my manga list, but I'll probably buy the next volume when it comes out.

Yeah One Piece! Probably the best shonen manga in a LONG time! It's on my list of "comics that made me cry", the story is really good and touching! Especially when you get deeper.

Though, it seems Oda went a bit too char-design happy and in volume 23 above... it starts to get too weird--character design wise. Lol. But still, OP is right there on my fav manga list after DB.

Look! I made myself part of a dead thread! But really, I want to read more of One Piece so bad right now. I read the first chapter because a friend who knew of my obsession with pirates shoved it at me with a quick "ReadOnePiece!" between classes...and then I kept asking to borrow it...and borrow it again...and I've read the first chapter seven times. o.o What I'd give to know what happens next!!

I'd also really like to know of some good fansites...but I won't beg. ^^ One Piece is great and I have become especially fangirlish over Shanks... ...I'm quiet now. *lol*

Look for me at Anime Weekend Atlanta!

The deer is Tony Tony (arguably Toni Toni) Chopper, though he's no longer fully deer. He joins the crew a while later in the series and is much better than the usual animal accomplice.

And to PinkCow, this fan site, Destination Paradise, is pretty good.
