Cache Problem in IE maybe?

Postby Bobtheduck » Sat Feb 28, 2004 1:14 pm

I've been seein OLD pages in CAA recently. I may have posted several times in a thread, and gotten responses, but all that shows up is what's BEFORE I ever posted. It's as though a really old cache copy of that thread is taking priority over getting the new contents of the thread. The things is, I've viewed those pages since that page and gotten new info then, but this info is like several updates old... How did this happen?

As I understand, the caches of all browsers aren't updating correctly since SL took out the "nocache" command in the board's software. I noticed this myself. It was part of saving bandwidth.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Caching of threads works in Mozilla-derivatives (i.e., new posts seem to get caught), although the search list doesn't catch updates without a reload.

It should just fix itself if you hit Refresh. I have to do that too, but least I can browse faster now. ^_^

The old pages probably appear because long ago (two months ago I believe) the nocache headers were switched off. For some reason I think I left nocache on for a couple months by mistake. Perhaps IE is pulling up old CAA pages from when caching was enabled.

What you need to do:

Tools->Internet Options

and hit the "Delete Files" button under "Temporary Internet Files". This will clear out your cache. Because IE is a lousy piece of crap it takes a very long time. Just be patient and leave your computer for a while.

yeah... I'm thinking of switching to an opensource browser. I'm having way too many problems with IE...

The link to Mozilla is right there in Straylight's sig for you. ;) As for me, I've never had this problem since I've set my cache settings too 0KB, but I just changed it about an hour ago to 1024KB, considiring the bandwidth concerns, which should be enough for what types of sites I visit on a regular basis.

Considering... I'm not quite sure if I want to make that adjustment yet.

O.o

The only thing I can think of to put under cons is "Aurthor Anderson."
