...at a low low price of ONLY 2,999! Or, well, something :/ I'm scared to know the price of it, really :/ Oh well, I'm against iPods anyhow, so no time in the future will I be getting it :/ Watch in the next few years we'll get stuff like iTVs, iHouses, etc :/ Scary...

While I think the iPhone is uber-cool, just for that touch-screen and full Mac OS X built in, I'm far more excited about the Apple TV. I would love to stream whatever TV shows or cartoons I have on my computer to my living room. Just seems neat to me.

It was announced a while back. You can watch the whole keynote for yourself, once the crowds die down...

i think id rather buy a ps3, or a wii60 a 600 dollar phone is rediculus and with the way the cell phone market changes styles and features (remeber when the razor was the phone to have), apple would have to relase a new model every 6-8 months to compete. just seems like poor development stratagy to me.

Nuh uh. It's software upgradable. That's the beauty of it. Watch the whole keynote. It's outstanding!

BTW: It's 500, not 600. And that's a 4 GB video ipod, cell phone and 2MP digital camera, too. It's a bit more than just an "expensive phone."

im not sure software upgradeability equils a new phone though. because when people trade phones it has been my experiance they do so not only for features (most of which are standard these days), but also for looks, phones much like cars are dependant on keeping up apearances. which to most people is fine if all thier paying $100 or less. but $500 every year to keep up with the iphone is alot to expect. and its not unheard of for some people buy every single ipod upgrade, but phones are an entirely differant market then mp3 players. and at $500 i doubt the mainstream market would suport that, especilly as the dollar declines. by no means do i think its not cool, the big touch screen is awsome, and i think it would have been better used on the next high end ipod instead

Whoa, seriously? Now that's pretty cool...most decked-out phones these days do have MP3 players, video capabilities, and cameras, but to have something like that is pretty neat, if you ask me. XD I won't say I want one just yet, because it's not like I can afford one, but I'm certainly interested to see if they'll catch on.

Dang. If I had the money . . . I would get it. I would SO get it. I would have to get the 8GB version if it was to replace my iPod, though. I have more music than my 4GB nano can hold.

But dang . . . I am going to have to put some money away for that one . . .

What's more is that, with that full OS X, you won't have to use the crummy mobile e-mail that other cell phones use. It's whatever e-mail you can get on a full Mac computer.

Another concept: Editing a photo you've just taken using a copy of Photoshop that runs on your iPhone. Whoa!

Heh, now I'm not saying that it's likely to happen, but it is a possibility with that full-fledged OS X. Really, a lot is possible, like on-the-go podcasting and song recording using GarageBand. Not feasible for editing, but good if you need a really quick MP3 recording of something.

For now, I'm sure Apple will just stick to more easily accessible mobile apps to test the waters with users. If it takes off, then I see a brand-new computer market on the horizon.

The iPhone hasn't even been approved by the FCC yet to be sold or used. So it may be a while before we see it. The prices range between $499 for a 4GB and $599 for an 8GB.

Must be nice to have a disposeable income...

I think that's really stupid of Cisco to do that. It's like they purposefully bought it so Apple couldn't use it.

Cisco already has reached an agreement with Apple over the usage of the name. Also, the FCC approval is already underway, and the iPhone is expected to ship in June.

Regardless of patents or whatever, the name iPhone belongs more to Apple than to Cisco. Apple has "i" everthing, it goes along with their products.

Also, I don't think your going to do any hardcore photo editing on this. Sure, it is running OS X, but that doesn't mean it's quite the same thing as a desktop or laptop. It will allow plenty of room for future development, though. You won't need to buy a new phone every time a new feature is added, just download the new software and new capabilities. I wonder if you would be able to develop for this thing yourself.

Forget the Sidekick III, I'm getting this thing. :D

Not really. InfoGear put a trademark on the "iPhone" name in 1996. It wasn't until 1998, two years later that Apple released the iMac and got the concept of putting a lowercase i in front of things. So the name really doesn't belong to Apple in any sense.

But again, like samuraidragon said, they've reached an agreement, so it really doesn't matter at this point.

Using Photoshop with a touchscreen?? No thanks... XD

I guess it would be cool and handy at times to have, but I'd probably lean more towards more capable separate devices myself. But that's just me.
