I'm new but.... this is a really great community

Talk about anything in here.

I'm new but.... this is a really great community

Postby Vyse » Thu Feb 26, 2004 6:31 pm

I would post this in the "Comment Box" but this isn't just directed at the administration, this is directed to everyone, you all make this a very warm and friendly place, I've never felt this comfortable with an online community before, I mean most of the time something can be posted that offends me and its within the rules of the site I go-to, here all of those things are against the rules, its also really great knowing everyone here is a Christian and has the same moral values as me.

I also have a confession to make, I used to be a moderator at a video game site( really don't want to say which, at least not publicy) but I was forced to delete posts about Christianty, it started causing me so much guilt that I couldn't take it anymore, so I gave up that postion and all the powers/privilges that came with it. But I still feel guilty about it, sorry everyone. I have asked God forgiveness, but still... this is my story.

Welcome to the boards Vyse! Yeah, it does feel nice to have a more comfortable, open atmosphere, huh?

I guess that was one of the things that really drove me to try to start something like CAA--I would read magazines and reviews and stuff about anime and no one dared mentioned spiritual issues; that wasn't politically correct. So stuff that I would be sensitive about usually was glossed over, glorified, or worse yet, used to make fun of Christians. And that was extremely uncomfortable. It's just nice to be able to fellowship with other believers and be able to really try to make a difference in the world.

I have to say it takes guts to stand up to a secular forum and put your spiritual beliefs first--talk about going out on a limb. I definately admire that! Way to go Vyse; I'm sure God is well pleased with you as well that you put what He sees as right above anything else.

So again, welcome! We're glad to have you here! Kick back and enjoy the fellowship, bro.

Thank you very much for the welcome, and yes I have to admit this place is an amazing concept, its funny almost, I was searching for a Kenshin avatar for MSN, when I came upon this is. I was like "Christian Anime? Those are two words you never see together!" I then knew it was something I had to check out, low and behold, this site has already helped me with a major life issue just by reading some of the posts here(which I don't want to say publicly, PM me if you want to know) but I've also been able to find good Christian conversation here. Once again, thank you everyone for making this community great ^_^

I most whole-heartidly agree - this community is great. *blushes* I've been lurking for quite some time, unsure if I wanted to join but decided I could not join the other Anime communities because my beliefs mean something and I do not want them trounced on.

Thank you so much for hosting a wonderful site for like-minded individuals to discuss their common interests! It is a very blessed thing and a gift from the Heavens.

Funny, I can totally relate to you, Vyse. I feel the same way about this community... I love it so much because I don't have to be ashamed of what I say. It's as it should be... I mean, not being afraid of what others think because we really all beleive the same when it comes down to it. I only joined recently, but for the same reason as you it seems. I was a mod at a rather large anime & roleplay board that discouraged and deleted religious posts... mainly targeting Christianity, since a lot of the wicca-related or other things got to stay *sigh* It takes a lot to leave when you're a moderator and so involved in a community, doesn't it? It hurt, but I don't regret it... I feel strongly that God led me this way, as He did to you, too.

I'll pray for you. I'm sure He's glad you made the decision that you did. *smiles* Welcome to the board!

Wow, yeah...I was looking at the old site for months before I joined the new one...I never did anything on the old site, but I was just looking at it...then I decided to email Ashley! And then I became a member! its great...I did a thread like this a few weeks ago, and boy was it an admin-mod lovey-dovey fest. (Puts on anti-cootie armor) This time, I will not cry when ashley says: "Members like you are what really drive this site", or somthing very nice like that..*Sniff"* I promised myself I wouldn't cry...*Boohoo*

Glad you did join Vyse. I've seen you around a bit but incase I never welcomed you, Welcomes! heh, yeah ^.~
All I can say is that I do argue with what everyone has said. I joined the old site but didn't do much but when I got an email about the new forum ... or something to that extent. I'm not really sure, was ages ago  But this is really the only forum I'm "active" on. I figured a place where I already have two things in common can't be bad and I am so glad I was right. But words are praises aren't something I'm good at so I'll just end it here. That and I have labs to do in Comp :thumb:

Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,

Was not spoken of the soul."

Its really great to have a kindrad(sp?) spirt here whose been though the same hardship I have been, isn't it awful how these kinds sites allow things we consider offensive, yet we can't even say what we belive in? I'm so glad I found this place, I can relate to so many people here, I don't have to worry about if I'll have to see a flame war or not, this place seems very peaceful ^_^

Well, you already know I'm glad you joined, but welcome again anyway. ^_^ I can already tell you're a very couragous person, because not only gave up being a mod at that site, but you also admitted about it here. :)

=3 Yep, places like the CAA are a real jewel~

People have been saying "It's great to have a Christian community to come to" but for me it's, "It's good to have a Christian anime community to come to." I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, and I have a close group of Christian friends who have chided me before for watching "demonic" or "pagan" things. It's great to know that there are people like you guys who know it's okay to watch anime AND be a Christian.

So my hat's off to everyone here, because this place really does rock my socks!

And now for your entertainment: THE DANCING BANANAS!

That was a big thing for me too, because before then my "non-christian" friends also happened to like anime, and they would be who I talked to about it with. What is amusing though is that the only Christian anime fan I knew personally before CCA also happened to be one of our pastor's sons. ^^

He had a hard time of it too, though, because people had put him on a high pedestal. I think many people do it unconsiously, especially with a pastor's kids. He was glad there was someone to talk to about it, though.

I don't remember exactly how I found the link to CCA, but I DO know that I was shocked when I found it. My first reaction was: "Christian anime fans? It's not an oxymoron? I'm not the only one?" Second reaction: "where do I sign up?"

^^

So my hat's off to everyone here, because this place really does rock my socks!

Those bananas are so cool... probably one of my favorite forum icons ever. ;)
