For our future mates (whoever they are)

Postby TheMelodyMaker » Wed Feb 25, 2004 9:34 pm

Based on something I read from the "Still a virgin?" thread in the General section, I thought I should bring this up here. (I hope you don't mind me quoting you, Gypsy; you said it better than I ever could.)

Gypsy wrote:I believe that it is absolutely essential that single Christians pray for their future mates. Even if you doubt you'll ever get married - it's not going to hurt you in the least to pray for that person. The neat thing is, you may have already been praying for each other long before you meet.

My mother told me that she prays every night at bedtime for my future mate, but I'm sorry to say that until now I've been neglecting to because I often find myself doubting whether I'll get married; I've never even had a girlfriend or been on a date. Nonetheless, starting now, I'm going to make it point to pray for her (whoever she is) as well; it can't hurt, right?

Like Gypsy said, you should all do the same for your future mates.

I'm gonna follow your lead. I've done it a couple of times, but need to be more perseverant in prayer. Thanks for the nudge guys.

Yes! This is a very good Idea...

Praying for God to bring someone my way in the right time who's perfect for me, and I for her.

I think that those two things make for a very good prayer.

Hmmm....

I have been praying a similar prayer for a long time, but it was considering both possibilities (staying single or married).

Nevertheless, I shall join you all in prayer.

Interesting. I agree with Omega Amen about praying for either possibility. If it's in God's will, then that's the way I gotta go and will be glad to go.

That's a good idea, one that I had never really considered before. I will start praying for my future mate.

I hope it's all right for me to gravedig my own thread; somehow I felt that in light of another thread that we have running in General it might be appropriate.

I'll humbly admit that I haven't been remembering to pray about this as often as I should, since I still find myself often doubting that I'll ever be married. Yet, just in case -- pray we should! :)

I have full intentions of giving my life to the Lord first, and marriage second. If he wills that I get married then I am certain he will guide my steps in finding the right wife. If he wills I do not get married then so be that as well. I pray that his will be done, and not mine, for his will is always best.
Live your life, love the Lord, and don't forget to laugh...
