Chronicles of the Curse Sword, Magic Knight Rayearth, and 19th something...

What can you tell me about these? I don't remember the name of the manga fully, but there is one called 19th something..and then there is one called Seventeenth or something...not sure...anyway, how are these? Good, bad? Oh yes, I meant to ask about Ragnarok and Rebirth. They don't sound good, from what I've heard.

Magic Knights Rayearth is pretty decent, especially considering CLAMP. It's one of 2 titles I would trust from them. Story is decently paced, if not a little short and fairly predictable...it does deal with sorcery though. However in context, it's a different world/universe and obviously pure fantasy, so I didn't have an issue with it. Hmm...other objectionable stuff...the only thing I can think of is some brief, undefined nudity when the magic knights transform...maybe a bad word or two but I don't remember anything specifically.

And are you thinking of Alice the 19th?

Magic Knight Rayearth is a great manga--one of my favorites even amongst CLAMP titles. As Ash pointed out, it is purely fantasy and really very innocent in its portrayal of magic. The artwork is very pretty and the characters interesting. If you're into the fantasy genre I would definitely recommend it. I haven't read any of the others you mentioned.

I was thinking about checking out Alice the 19th myself...isn't it by the same guy that did Fushigi Yuugi?

I dunno. I just thought Alice the 19th was a strange name for a manga, and was curious...

Yes... Well, umm... Raganarok... It is the most insanely AWESOME manwha anywhere!!! It's also not something a Christian should read without some serious consideration. I speak from experience, having owned the first 5 volumes before I pulled out. The artwork, story, pacing, characters, are all awesome. MYUNG-JIN LEE cranks out some of the best graphic novels I've ever read, almost up there with Joe Kubert. Where Christians need to check this series though, is with the magic and the umm... provocitive nature of lots of the outfits. I'd be very careful before getting into this series. I've actually pitched my whole collection. :(

I personally think that Alice the 19th is the best work done so far by Yuu Watase (and it was a woman who wrote the series, not a man). It is also one of my favorite shojo mangas of all time.

Ragnarok is another cool series, and happens to be my brother's favorite manga of all time. Ok, well technically it's manwha, but you know what I mean. I think one of the reasons I love this story so much is because it vaguely reminds me of Oh! My Goddess! (due to the fact that both have basis with Norse Mythology). Pantakrator is right about Ragnarok though, a Christian should be very careful when reading it. However, if you can handle that kind of stuff, it is a definite must-read. ^^
