Obligatory "hello" thread

Postby NeoMikey » Sun Feb 22, 2004 12:10 am

Hey folks! My name's Mikey, and I joined up with these forums tonight. I've been into anime since grade school, when my friend showed me "Tank Police". Ever since then, my interest's slowly grown over the years. I've started making anime music videos last year and share them on WinMX, and hope in a way I'm able to use them as a witnessing tool (I usually put a Bible verse at the end of the video).

I became a Christian back in 9th grade at a county fair, spurred to go to a church booth when I saw they were giving out small free items. While having been Catholic my entire life, what they told me wasn't anything I hadn't heard before, but when they started relating it all to -me- on a -personal level-, then asked if I wanted to personally ask Jesus into my heart to be my Lord and Savior...that's about when my life changed.

Since then, a lot has happened in my life. I'm currently in a relatively new, but quickly growing church that's centered about getting the Gospel to the world and getting souls saved from hell! I currently live at home, helping my parents when they need it, while also taking care of my mom, being that she's currently recovering from a stroke she had last year.

I love Jesus, I love anime, and I love friendly people. I'm guessing I'll find all this in these forums, hm? :D

Anime? Well...I'm not much of an otaku, but there's still series out there I like. A friend of mine went to the Navy, and put me in charge of holding onto his Cowboy Bebop DVD's...and that's when I suddenly became a Bebop fanboy. ^_^;; Back when Toonami had Tenchi Muyo, I thought that was a fun series. Also I remember enjoying the more obscure series "Samurai Pizza Cats"...though it hasn't been aired in ages. There are other animes out there I like, but I can't remember them too well at the moment.... I like anime that can make me chuckle, or have some meaningful message behind it all...or both, if possible. :thumb: I was wondering about checking into "Excel Saga" (minus ep. 26...). Would that be worth my time? =\

Edit: Oh! And Miyizaki films! "Castle In the Sky" still remains one of my all-time favorite movies...ever!

Hi and welcome! *jumps* ^_^

You might enjoy Excel Saga, if you like totally wacky anime. It is very funny; but, it is rated 16+, I think.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
