band suggestions, please

I am having trouble finding a band that is good, but not inappropriate. I like bands like AC/DC, Disturbed, and Metallica, but I'm not allowed to buy their CDs. My dad wants bands that have lyrics that are meaningful, and if they aren't meaningful, he wants it to where you aren't 100% positive on the meaning of the lyrics. He lets me listen to Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters and Hoobastank. Please leave suggestions.

Ummm...House of Heroes? They're rock, though (as in, not screaming and not metal)...not sure if that's the type of thing you're looking for, but they are good. And they're a Christian band. Check out their bio at their official site:

Some of the White Stripes music is great, but it will be a less produced than you're used to, but I'm a big fan. I would recommend "White Blood Cells" first, then "Elephant." They are both pretty clean, as far as I recall.

Bush's Razorblade Suitcase is grungy, yet pretty clean also. But definitely a more 90's sound: loud guitars, drums, generally unproduced and pretty raw, but melodic also.

And if you can listen to Foo Fighters, try Audioslave's first cd. There is one song with profanity on it, as I remember, and it's hard. I'm a fan.

Leaving it at "A Band that is Good" however is practically useless as we have no clue what exactly you're looking for in a band, and literally hundreds come to mind in insanely diverse styles.

I had previously heard Audioslave on the radio, and I really like this band. It is good to know that they aren't inappropriate.

Also House of Heroes sounds a little too like a pretty boy pop rock band. No offense, I'm just tying to give you guys a clearer picture of what I'm after.

Havee you checked out bands such as 12 Stones and Day of Fire? I think that you might dig them. Also try out a littler known band called Lucerin Blue.

Oh yeah you should also look up Stavesacre.

hmmm, there's also Jonah 33 if you like the fighters of foo, decemberradio's lead singer at times reminds me of the lead singer of ac/dc and they're a christian band, anberlin's good, as well as kids in the way, i highly recommend flyleaf, they're a very outspoken christian band that's been getting plenty of airplay on secular radio lately (and on mtv now that i think about it), seventh day slumber is good, they remind me of staind, the showdown is very good if you like really heavy metal, disciple's also very good in the field of metal, hope these recommendations help

Do'h i forgot Disciple. They are great! I don't really concider them metal i thought they are alternative

Yea they did. They changed on after there Back Again album. Now the funny thing is the band Spoken started as Rap-Core. I'll recommend them if you don't mind the slighty selective vocals

Ok, you really need to go out and buy Saviour Machine, probably the albums Saviour Machine I and Saviour Machine II. They play a fusion of Gothic Rock and Progressive Metal and are one of the most top-notch Christian artists out there. Pound for pound their quality is excellent in everything.

How about Don Henley or Mike + the Mechanics. Very uplifting people who used to be in some well-known bands. Don Henley used to be in the Eagles and Mike Rutherford of Mike + the Mechanics used to be in Genesis. The Mike + the Mechanics song "The Living Years" has been remade by a Christian rock artist.

Uh, yeah, while I've never heard Saviour Machine, I can say that it would seem that some of your genre-labels, RurouniNaruto, are a tad...off. I am kind of curious as to what songs you heard when you listened to House of Heroes..."Buckets for Bullet Wounds" sure doesn't sound like "pretty-boy punk rock" to me. XD;
