Sweet Restoration

"Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."
Psalm 51:12

By His sovereign grace, God can bring good out of our failures, and even out of our sins.

J. Stuart Holden tells of an old Scottish mansion close to where he had his little summer home. The walls of one room were filled with sketches made by distinguished artists. The practice began after a pitcher of soda water was accidentally spilled on a freshly decorated wall and left an unsightly stain. At the time, a noted artist, Lord Landseer, was a guest in the house. One day when the family went out to the moors, he stayed behind. With a few masterful strokes of a piece of charcoal, that ugly spot became the outline of a beautiful waterfall, bordered by trees and wildlife. He turned that disfigured wall into one of his most successful depictions of Highland life.

Prayer: Thank God for His willingness to restore when we have wandered and continue to make something beautiful of our lives.

"To forsake Christ for the world, is to leave a treasure for a trifle....eternity for a moment, reality for a shadow."
~William Jenkyn
"The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending, then having the two as close together as possible."

Wow, that is so true. I can attest to this because it is already working in my life. Although I have made some mistakes in my life I believe that God is already using me for his purpose to help others not go into certain areas because of my knowing the pain that is involved with it. God can definately take bad situations and use them for his glory, as long as we are willing to let him do so.

This is also very true. Many people live under the motto "Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow you may die!" The problem with many people around the world these days is that they don't think about the next life. They are too busy being either "the life of the party" or in "deep despair" that they neither contimplate the good things that can come, or the consequences that may arise based on their lives on earth. Instead of putting their faith in God, who loves them, they would rather love fleeting things.

A very good Devotional, Rev. Doc. It was a good reminder. :thumb:
