Where can I watch SDF Macross, Subbed?

I remembered that I had asked about it awhile ago and dropped it when I heard about Minmay's shower scene...
Now that some time has past and I've reviewed my anime list again... I've decided to watch it.
(I'll just skip the shower part when it comes or close my eyes... :shady:)

Anyway,
I've been looking around around for Super Dimension Fortress Macross english subbed like crazy but I can't find it anywhere. :stressed:
I really would like to watch it, english dub is not an option. Please help me out! :?:

Unfortunately, I can't find it legally streaming with subs anywhere. Sorry!

EDIT: But I have to say, I might be picking this up soon. The opening to the first episode was really awesome!

AnimEigo had the original Macross in subtitled DVDs (Robotech of course being available from ADV). This is unfortunately out of print, but was legal, and you can probably find it used -- I have the first DVD around here somewhere. Here are the liner notes: http://www.animeigo.com/liner/out-print/macross-tv-series

For the record, the shower scene is obvious fanservice, but by today's standards is pretty tame.

Macross is a pretty good show; definitely worth seeing. You can find it used on Amazon, but it's not going to be very affordable. However, if you have Netflix, it is available to rent on DVD, subbed.

[quote="ShiroiHikari (post: 1487135)"]Macross is a pretty good show]

And if you DON'T have a Netflix account, you can sign up for a free 30 day trial so you can watch it.

And I can watch it on Netflix subbed... right?
Great! My brother has a netflix account~! I'll just ask him to let me borrow it. xD
Thanks guys!
(Btw, I can watch it there subbed... riiiight? Just double checking.)

I don't think it is subbed in streaming format. I could be wrong, though. Most of their streaming anime are dubbed only. If it isn't subbed on streaming you see if your brother would let you rent a couple discs or you could sign up for the free trial. Oh and as for the shower scene. I would disagree that it is tame. It is a shower scene, I mean other than the fact that she is only seen from the back, there is really nothing different about it then if there were a shower scene in an anime today. Most non-hentai anime don't show shower scenes from the front anyway. So I would give you a fair warning that the scene is there and you see her completely nude from the back. It is a fairly quick scene and could easily be skipped if I remember correctly.

It's not available to stream at all. It is only available to rent on DVD. And yes, the DVDs have the Japanese audio with English subs.

Yes it is available to stream. You should really check your information before you post things. It is available to stream for those who have Netflix instant watching until July 1st. It's listed as Robotech.

Robotech and SDF Macross are two completely different shows. Robotech is what happened when some companies got ahold of SDF Macross and spliced it together with 2 other completely unrelated anime series.

Thank you Atria. I was beginning to wonder if everybody on this forum just completely ignores me.

So yeah. SDF Macross. Get it from Netflix subbed and watch it because it's a good show.

Those two anime were unrelated? I thought that they were related anime, just not the same. Like I know the first chapter is Macross, and I thought the other two were like spin-offs or something related. Or was it just other mecha anime that was animated by the same company and they somehow brilliantly spliced it into one series?

Robotech and Macross are not related at all.

Well, they are related in that they managed to mash the footage from Macross into the other two series to make Robotech. But that's the extent of it- the stories are totally different, they are not related story-wise, they are not sequels of any sort, etc.

Also, the two shows that SDF Macross was mashed with has no relation to Macross either. The company that licensed them just kinda chose three random mecha shows to put together into one big series.

How interesting, 'cause the character designs looked pretty similiar. Oh well. You have to admit, it takes some brilliance to mash 3 shows and make it into a trilogy O.O (I personally like this show. It's one my dad introduced to me). I wish they'd made a sequel to the Shadow Chronicles movie!

I would watch it subbed, but due to what I've heard of the content (I think my parents watched it and said it was pretty bad) I don't think I will. XD!!

Hrm. I'm pretty sure someone posted something about the content a while ago, and think the content was tamer than Higurashi.

Would someone like to confirm/deny this?

Actually, the other Robotech series *were* Tatsunoko (Mospeada and Southern Cross).

Whoops! Then I was reading the wrong names on Wiki! ><" And that's why I should read the sidebar and not the text.

Haha, I haven't even watched the Higurashi anime. The anime is scary enough to read XD!!! Tamer, eh? I heard it was pretty violent though O.O

Snicker. But you got to my post before I fixed it (I typed Toei when I meant to type Tatsunoko). It's, in fact, Tatsunoko, before we get a cascade of "isn't the studio actually ..." :brow:

Macross' content is actually pretty tame. Yes, again, Minmei has a shower scene, for example, but it's brief and non-frontal. I'd rate it conservatively 13+, but certainly not higher.

If you don't have a problem with fansubs, you might want to track down a fansub of Macross: Do You Remember Love?, a two-hour compilation movie that is really good. It has like a five second shower scene but it is pretty tame.

I still need to see the actual show, though. Want more Roy Fokker and Maximillian Jenius, and did I see Kakizaki is actually important?

Ironic, isn't it?

<_< MAL lists them as the same show. How was I to know? *shrugs*
