Kino's Journey

My wife and I borrowed the whole series from our local library and just finished watching it tonight.

We enjoyed it thoroughly. It was kinda different to what we were used to, but interesting in its own way. Some of the episodes really made us think about the ways people treat each other in the world.

Give this series a try if you haven't seen it, you may be pleasantly surprised. :)

Kino's Journey is AMAZING. It took me a while to get into it, but by the end I was totally entranced. Definitely very different from a typical series.

I did a review of the series for a Secret Santa thing, and boy was I ever glad that this was selected for me.

Fabulous series. I would totally watch it again- if I had the time! xD I'd love to read the light novels it was based off of. Yes, definitely made me think, and I enjoy it whenever a series does that.

Is there anywhere to watch this online?
I don't think CrunchyRoll or youtube have it, as far as I know.

Hulu has the first two episodes up. =) They're in dub, and I watched one and didn't mind the voice acting at all. :)

I love Kino's Journey! It is one of my favorites. Such a great show! So many interesting philosophical points to it. Along with fun comedy and good action it makes for a wonderful short series. The dub and sub are both good so if you only find it in dub don't let that dissuade you from watching. Also for those you love the show there are two movies that were never released in America. Life Goes On which is a prequel showing what happened to Kino after she left her village and For You which is new story adapted from the novels.

After a friend recommended it to me, became a fan of this little known series. I like how it portrayed certain things and it was creativly different from what I usually watch.

Thanks for the tip! I've always kinda wish could see more of her story or whatever the same people created.

I really, really recommend the subtitled version, if its available. Kino's voice in the dub is good, but the rest of it is just...off. Besides Hermes' voice (which is painfully comedic - think Puchan from Best Student Council), there's just something about the dub that just isn't right...I found the series to be much more enjoyable with subtitles, and I'm no dub hater.

Your review was one of the factors in my decision to borrow the series from our local library (other than the fact that it cost us nothing to watch it). :)

This was one of the first anime I made my roommate watch. It then became the first anime he ever bought :)

"Kino's Journey" is an awesome series. The story is very capturing, the characters are endearing, and the animation style strikes a nice balance between being realistic yet somewhat other-worldly. I know many people may not care for the dub, but I really had no problem with it; I think Kelli Cousins plays the androgynous Kino perfectly and Cynthia Martinez does an excellent job as Kino.

I feel the need to mention that I actually used an episode of "Kino's Journey" to describe the resent "end of the world" prediction made; specifically Episode 3 when the entire population of a city Kino visited believed the world was going to come to an end the next day. Suffice it to say, the world did NOT end, and the explanation the priest gave as to his error was a textbook case of art imitating life.
