How long has passed in bleach

Postby DragonSlayer » Thu Sep 02, 2010 7:40 pm

I was just wondering how long has passed in bleach, I'm figuring at most 8 months. The first three months are clear in the series.

The month ichigo spends training with rukia
The month ichigo spends training to go rescue rukia
the month ichigo spends rescuing rekuia

So thats three, But I was just wondering. It really is starting to get on my nerves how 90% of heroes in manga are like what...12 to 15? But I was just wondering how much these guys age.

People don't have to age. After all, Bart Simpson has been 10 years old for the last 20 years.

Actually, in some anime, the characters age. Look at Hinata in Naruto.

Everyone in Naruto aged, though.....

But yeah, characters rarely age unless there's some sort of plot-related timeskip. It's just one of those things- Wil E. Cyote never gets the Roadrunner, Elmer Fudd is always befuddled by Bugs Bunny..... It just goes with the territoy.

No, Atria, only Hinata aged in Naruto. Everyone else stayed the same age.

Actually, characters do sometimes age. Probably the best example of this is the comic strip For Better or For Worse in which the characters aged in real time, which was pretty incredible for a daily newspaper comic. Actually that comic did a LOT of things that were pretty incredible for a daily newspaper comic, but that's beside the point.

Characters also age in Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, though that might be cheating to bring up because they're live-action shows.

The big reason cartoon characters rarely if ever age is because passage of time would destroy the status quo. Kali brought up the Simpsons, which is an excellent example. If the characters aged/time passed, what would happen to the characters? You'd have to deal with "very special episode" type crap like Lisa hitting puberty, Bart having to get a job/move out of the house, Grandpa dying, and so on. Best to stick with what works, although Simpsons HAS shaken things up before, but not to too large of a degree.

Um, Didn't the characters in Azumanga Daioh age? They certainly didn't look like it, but they did go through three years of high school in 26 episodes. (I'm kinda disappointed that they don't look like they aged. Shouldn't at least one of them have gone through puberty, besides Sakiki?)

Actually, I've read a few manga where there characters have aged. Heck, I'm writing one myself. In Hikaru no GO all the characters do age (quite gradually and realisticly), and in Kingdom Hearts the characters are a year older in KH2. :3!

But, were are getting quite off topic. The question was not about characters aging in manga per-say, but more about a specific manga. For this reason, I've decided to go to Wiki:

http://bleach.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline
This explains all the events that happen and all, but it's not very specific time-wise.

as opposed to this one.....
Here's another timeline I found that seems to have been put together by a fan: http://community.livejournal.com/soul_society/848698.html
It's more specific on dates and the like.

I've not seen Bleach so I can't really make accurate judgments. But, I hope I was at least of some help to whoever asked the question.
