Spreads From Japan to Italy

[quote="ICv2"]A resurgence of interest in the Sailor Moon property has led to a return of the classic magical girl anime series on the Japanese airwaves last fall. Now Toei Animation is hoping to revive the property on a global scale starting in Italy. Toei is partnering with Backstage, which will handle the property’]

Oh my gosh.

If Sailor Moon could somehow once again be released on DVD here in the states...

My day would be made forever. XDD

Hearing this kind of makes me happy. XD I saw an episode of Sailor Moon a while back and realized how cheesy it can be sometimes, but it also reminded me of the love I had of it as a girl. XD;;

No matter how cheesy, I think I'll always have a place for it in my heart... it was one of the first anime series I saw. Oh, the memories.

If we could at least get a proper DVD release, that'd be amazing. If we could get a proper redub, that'd just be epic. DIC's Sailor Moon audience is basically all grown up now, so we don't need them to Americanize every single aspect of the show. :P

Oh man I would jump for joy if Toei let someone pick up the US license for Sailor Moon again. For now I remain cautiously optimistic!

Sailor Moon has always been and always will be, my most favorite magical girl anime. I Hope it will be licensed again and re-release with the entire episodes dubbed in english uncut on dvd (including all the episodes that were left out like, the story of Minako as Sailor V, etc) in the US, along with the english dubbed manga (which I read online), brandnew video games, action figures etc, like Dragon Ball Z.

Er, they did that. The Sailor Moon Season 1 and Season 2 box sets had all 89 episodes up to S, with the exception of one, episode 67 (the one where they're on vacation and meet up with a dinosaur family). The reason that one isn't in the box set is ADV stated they had trouble getting the raws for that episode, but it's not important to the storyline anyway so it wasn't a big loss.

Wasn't there a bit of a revival when PGSM came out? Not that it hit the states, really, but it kind of feels like broadcast anime has been on a slight decline here anyway. It all seems to be getting replaced by regular store purchases and manga.

That would require new dubbing.

...

Which, honestly, I'm not opposed to.

Ohhhhh now I understand.

It'd be nice but I think magical girl fever has mostly died down in America so I doubt it'd be profitable for them to do so, and besides Stars ain't never gonna come here so we'd be cheated out of the ending anyway.

But we can still hope, Nate, we can still hope. Don't shoot our hopes and dreams down just yet.

A new dub is probably not gonna happen unless whoever licenses it gets off their butts and launches a huge advertising campaign to boost DVD sales enough to cover the dubbing costs.

Geneon didn't have too much of a problem selling the Uncut dub sets years ago. Now the ADV ones that where sub only uncut, where a really big selling and was a hot #2 in sells other then EVA box sets for them.

I'm just saying, Sailor Moon is a relatively old property so they can't expect to make a profit on a re-dub in this market by word-of-mouth alone. Of course, this is assuming Toei will even sell the license to a US company in the first place.

I remember watching Sailor Moon in Germany, in German...

It was awesome, and a little weird.

Does that mean we might be able to see the icky cousins thing about Sailors Uranus and Neptune returned to its original context. Making them cousins made it icky, IMHO.
